 first of all,it goes egg-cheese meat.  Second, Hard roll, not an english muffin.  That looks like a poor facsimile of an egg Mc Muffin. Third, eggs over easy.  Lastly, you should have browned the pork roll more and the muffin less.  And, finally, where's mine?  I hope you made enough for all of us.

I mean, ya did it wrong, but I'd still eat it.

Yep, click bait.

The luncheonette counter in the main building at Collingwood  Flea Market has one of the best PEC in NJ.  Good burgers and fries too.

Well this is timely. I posted it here instead of the new thread. I figured I'd spare him.

"NJ's best Taylor ham / pork roll sandwiches"

Even NJ.com can't draw a line. Of course the story is clickbait.

From the article:

"North Jersey calls it Taylor ham, South Jersey calls it pork roll, and Central is split on the issue, though most of the Central Jersey places visited on my road trip called it pork roll.
(All Taylor ham is pork roll; not all pork roll is Taylor ham.)"  -  Hogwash

Pork roll is pork roll,  Taylor ham does not exist.   The parenthesized sentence would be accurate if written like this.;

All Pork Roll is Pork Roll;  Not all Pork Roll is Taylor Brand Pork Roll.    NJ.com.....Pffft.

And with that... the stewards overturn the race results!

I love Mr. Hungry... but who in the hell appointed him "race steward"?!   Nope, not buying it.

We formed a focus group, then a committee, and finally a tribunal.  We thoroughly investigated the matter, by which I mean, we looked at a package of Taylor Pork Roll, and it's STILL Taylor Pork Roll.

Seriously, as litigious as NJ is, I'm surprised nobody has sued these greasy spoons for false advertising.  If they are selling a product as ham, it had better be ham.

Ok, enough of this. Although I think you may be on the right track.

It needs to be on the ballot this year. The question is "is it?"

The options are "pork roll" or "taylor ham".

Respectfully I disagree.  No ballot needed. The question above is invalid.
It's been long established that the tubular meat product to which we refer and love, regardless of which brand it may be, is in fact "pork roll"

An interesting question would be why someone would knowingly, and with disregard for the honor of their family name, choose to call pork roll - Taylor Ham.

Maybe you'd have to ask John Taylor what he was thinking originally?

Pork roll [1][2] is a pork-based processed meat commonly available in New Jersey, New York, Delaware and parts of Pennsylvania and Maryland. It was developed in 1856 by John Taylor of Hamilton Square, New Jersey, and sold as "Taylor's Prepared Ham".[3] Other producers entered the market, and subsequent food labeling regulations required Taylor to designate it as a "pork roll" alongside its competitors.

Who cares what he was thinking then?   It aint Ham even when he called it Ham.
Read the Bold above, He called it Ham at one time....since then Mr Taylor and his kin label it "pork roll"  ergo, there is no such thing as Taylor Ham.

As for your fake news photo of that box,  go buy me some pork roll in that packaging from a local supermarket and present a receipt from the sale at that store on which the product is labeled taylor ham and I'll make you a PEC, apologize to all the misguided Hammers out there and refrain from ever calling it pork roll again.

Deal?

As the resident redneck here, the damn package says Taylor PORK ROLL....ham is NOT mentioned on the damn box.

Sorry...I gotta call it as I see it, the package says Pork Roll, it’s Pork Roll.

Argument settled.

Any idea where ham and pork come from?

Point being, he called it Taylor Ham, and since he was the INVENTOR, called it what he wanted. Aren't inventors allowed to name their product?

60 years later, the government FORCED him to change the name. You know, that same government that's taking away your 2A rights...

Just sayin...

Then there's this...

......" On April 14, 2016, Assemblyman Tim Eustace introduced an Act in the New Jersey State Legislature designating the Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese sandwich as the New Jersey State Sandwich and supplementing chapter 9A of Title 52 of the Revised Statutes. "An Act designating the Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese sandwich as the New Jersey State Sandwich and supplementing chapter 9A of Title 52 of the Revised Statutes."[19]

What, should we be discussing your choice of fruit to top your dinner meat, or maybe boiling your ribs, so you can eat them with your dentures removed?

No, you can't name something it is not and sell it as such.

This.

This is what it comes down to.

Ham is already a thing. It exists. Everyone knows what it is. It is codified and defined and had been for years prior to John Taylor’s invention. It is a particular cut of meat from a specific portion of a pig - and if you are gullible enough to believe that all the meat in Pork Roll comes from the upper portion of a pigs rear legs I can guarantee that you are sorely mistaken.

Think about this: If you walked into a Deli and ordered a ham sandwich and received Pork Roll you’d probably not be happy, right? Why? Because Pork Roll is no kind of Ham.

If I called a roasted carrot a T-bone steak and sold it as such, I would rightly be told I can’t call it that and would have to change the name.

Additionally, it was never Taylor Ham, it was Taylor’s PREPARED Ham, so if you “original name” folks want to stand by that shaky argument, at least get it right.

I will concede Taylor Pork Roll as an acceptable name if that’s your preferred brand.
