I've only been in NJ for a few years and have yet to try this by any name... any recommendations in Essex? :D

I only ever heard it called "pork roll" though :o

Even Shop Rite will sell it - check the same section as Bacon.  There's Taylor, Case, and even store brand.

That's because it IS pork roll.

Most supermarkets carry it.  You can also go to just about any diner and ask for a pork roll egg and cheese sammich.  Be prepared to be asked a major question.  "salt pepper ketchup?" aka SPK.

First of all, show some respect.
It is: Pork Roll

Second, go out and get one at a local place that knows how to make it on a hard roll with SPK the first time. That’s the classic NJ PREC.

If you are shopping for it to make yourself, or if you have a choice, get Taylor brand Pork Roll as a baseline. Experiment with the other brands from there.

Note: It is also very good on an Everything Bagel.

When I am at home and making it for myself, I like to use a Thomas’ English Muffin and sunny side up eggs.

I have stopped using Ketchup and just use pepper and a little bit of salt now.

It's easier just to go to MacDonald's and ask for an Egg McMuffin!

:peep:

2 small ones,

Pffft... Go big or go home.  No, wait, that doesn't work because you are already home.  Okay, whatever, you know what I mean.  You have to try it on the king size muffins.  It's more, I dunno, more gooder.

Yeah we were out of American.

I've used American (good), Swiss (gross), Munster (good), Cheddar (okay), even Brie, but never Provolone.  Which is odd since I am Italian.  btw, smoked brie on PEC is the cat's ass.

That’s funny.

The store I saw those signs has that same shirt - I think it’s the same company - only it says Pork Roll…

I’ll try to get a picture and post it.
