  1. 1. What do you call the delicious manufactured pork product indigenous to NJ?

Taylor ham. Any other brand is pork roll. Because it's not the same!!

Or we could end this debate forever and all agree to call it "processed, salt-preserved mechanically separated meat product pate" :p

Please highlight the word "ham" in the above photo.

It's PORK ROLL.. made by the Taylor company.

ANYWHERE outside of NY and NJ it's called Taylor ham. My father in-law now lives in Missouri and buys 4 packages of TAYLOR Pork Roll when he comes back to visit because they can not get it out there (so he says)

I mean when was the last time you went in to the corner deli or bagel shop in a hung over state and said "can i have a Taylor ham egg and cheese?"  you ask for a "Pork Roll, egg and cheese on a kaiser roll, salt pepper and ketchup on the side." and a coke.... no orange juice... no coke.. i need a coke."

95% of my customers ask for a pork roll egg and cheese sandwich, a few of the yuppie customers that are like horse trainers and doctors in the area call it taylor ham.

Those are the sophisticated ones from NNJ. lol

Actually pretty interesting survey though...on average those calling it TH seem to be of a more NNJ area, PR more of a SNJ area. Be interesting to see what every calls the night before Halloween...new thread to follow, dont answer here lol.

Taylor was required by the USDA to change the name of the product from Taylor Ham as it, by their definition, was not "ham".

So, all you haters, tell me, where exactly is the "ham" in nearly every HAMburger bought everyday in the USA?

The fact that it's named after the city of Hamburg, and not the ham meat product?
