What is your favorite TV show on any of the news channels

Recommended Posts

I enjoy The Five as well. The beautiful....smart ladies  , I really like Greg Gutfield too and enjoy his own show Red Eye. It's on late so if I remember I record it. Bob Beckel gets on my nervous sometimes but that's why he is there.

I didn't realize people still relied on fox as a reputable news source anymore...

...I fully admit that I have nothing to contribute to the conversation besides that...

because CNN and NBC are reliable new sources? Fox always has good pannels and good discussions, even if you don't agree with their opinions. it's not so much for the news but getting politicians on the record. You don't watch these channels for the news you watch them for the politics.

Please point me in the direction of a "reputable news source."

Reuters,Associated Press,BBC in my opinion is far more reputable and balanced than CNBC,CNN,FOX and it's ilk, realizing of course that regardless of sources the author's and editor's slant will be represented.

Increasingly you have to "Mine" for accurate news coverage simply because major news pander to their target audience to maintain viewership and advertizing dollars.FOX has a huge viewership but not so much for their so called "Hard News" but more so for it's panel programming, which by the way they were forced to admit is more "entertainment and opinion" than actual news.

Are you serious? I disagree.

You're aware that AP banned the use of the term "illegal alien" or "illegal immigrant" right?

The BBC, while it is an independent corporation shows its bias quite a lot. Not just on the world service but I listen to radio 5 live (domestic service) and they are flat out socialist welfare state, and of course they think that America has too many guns...

I guess this would be a good time to mention that I work at your favorite news network. Have been there for about 6 years now...

BUT I get my news from many different places. I have learned not to trust the news anymore. It all has an agenda no matter who.

Red Eye is the only show to watch. The Five is just a tamer version of Gutfeld with some annoying girls prissing it up. Trust me, stick to Red Eye. It is the only television show I DVR and watch on a daily basis

Greg Gutfield is my favorite part of The Five too. I've seen the Red Eye a few times, I'll check it out again. I do like the others on the Five though, the talk is very relaxing.

The question wasn't about your favorite news source!

I agree the BBC is heavily biased. It's similar to PBS to me. For the record when I am in England I watch ITV News, not BBC. In the US I do watch BBC but only for Top Gear and Doctor Who.

I don't ever watch or listen to any news stations for the news. I aggregate my news sources over the internet as it provides a much more comprehensive picture and I like the raw information without commentary.

P.S. Ryan that sounds like a great gig

I prefaced my statement by mentioning "far more reputable",in addition, if all you have to hold AP to task is an adjustment in wordage at the very least they didn't totally discard the word "Illegal" and choose to go with "undocumented"like so many of our news sources.

Having lived and worked in Europe and Scandinavia recently I am well aware that mass media overseas is overwhelmingly anti American regardless of outlet and one of the reasons I'm now back home However I find it hard to fathom the affinity and loyalty to one news source or another simply because it broadcasts what you want to hear....If anything I would seek out dissenting views in order to form a balanced outlook....No?

Don't be silly. It's not just one thing. It's a number of things, including hit pieces on the gun industry, right in line with the other media outlets and their agenda. AP is no different. They have a lot of fact based news but a lot of opinion disguised as news as well.

Multiple differing sources are good. But often the news bleats the same chorus.

I wouldn't trust European news outlets at all on issues like guns and taxes. I might trust them on world affairs but I don't really trust them at all when it comes to US politics because by and large they support hard left candidates.

Well it is what it is. Truth be told though I am not sure how long I'll be here. I get offers all the time and some are really tempting, pay and benefits wise. I also have to think of when my kids are going to school, I may want something closer.

I was not attempting to be silly and you make good points but as an employee of one of the most controversial and maligned "News sources" around today.... who do you suggest we gather out news from?

That's a good question. How about use your own judgement? If it seems non-factual or misleading, investigate further. We have Google and the Internet now. It's not just one guy reading the evening news anymore. A lot of news stories trace back to sources online. A lot of things are common sense.

News aggregators like Google news work very well too.

Thank you as your reply is very telling as an employee of Fox and essentially the point I was making in my first post about "mining" for accurate information and news........

Very rarely News 12, although they have a pretty huge anti-gun bias. At least they ATTEMPT to give the other side's opinions and such. Otherwise, I get all my news secondhand off sites like this and others. I figure I won't miss anything too important.

    • I very seriously doubt this has anything to do with terrorism.    1) Harbor pilots are VERY seriously vetted, and highly trained. Not to mention extremely well paid. My experience knowing a few of them, and knowing how they are recruited and screened tells me that there is a slim to highly unlikely chance that a harbor pilot would have participated in anything like that.    2) Maintenance of foreign flag ships is well known to be dubious. Especially these days. These were NOT US flag, Jones act sailors. It was (to my understanding) a largely Indian crew on that ship, with a Ukrainian Captain. Indian crews are not exactly known for being stellar.    3) The bunkers (fuel) these ships use is ‘Bunker C’, which is a heavy, dirty fuel oil that can, and usually is, pretty contaminated. This stuff ain’t your car grade gasoline or diesel fuel. It’s nasty.   It requires nearly constant filter changes and maintenance to the engine/generators. The ship took on fuel prior to departing port, which would stir up all kinds of shit in the fuel tanks, which would contribute to particulates in the fuel lines/filters.    4) I’d say the posting of the chief engineer for Maserek above was pretty spot on as far as chain of events.    This was a shitty accident, with horrible timing and outcome. Not a terror attack.

Regardless, if it's not applicable in any way to this ship disaster, the methods described seem valid to me. And worthy of consideration for the future. As I said before, IMO something is coming.
