Vicious 138 Posted May 30, 2013 Is it safe? They had some in Sarco, so I picked up 2 small bags. I just don't know if it's safe for my gun, so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it.
johnp 45 Posted May 30, 2013 I have read on the interwebs that a lot of people had duds and hangfires with Iranian surplus 8mm. No personal experience, just what I have read.
Vicious 138 Posted May 30, 2013 Yeah, I saw that too. Hard to find any firsthand accounts of anyone actually using the 30-06. I guess it's fine as long as it doesn't blow my gun up.
BlueLineFish 615 Posted May 30, 2013 I wouldn't trust anything Iranian
Big Mack 5 Posted May 30, 2013 I bought about 200 rounds of Iranian 3006 form then a while back and only about 8-10 rounds actually fired through my M1. No hang fires, all duds. Hopefully you got a better batch then I did.
Vicious 138 Posted May 30, 2013 Well that sucks. Can't really return them, so I guess I'll just see what happens. I only have 50, so I should be able to burn through them pretty fast.
Tallday 10 Posted May 30, 2013 I bought like 100 rounds of that stuff from sarcos and only had 10 fired don't wast your money!!!
Vicious 138 Posted May 31, 2013 Lol, well they got me for $32. Lesson learned. Why would they sell such junk? I guess I'll take it to the range and see what happens.
Big Mack 5 Posted May 31, 2013 No clue why they still sell it. Im sure they've had problems with pissed off customers trying to return it. Maybe you'll have better luck though, fingers crossed for you.
johnp 45 Posted May 31, 2013 Lol, well they got me for $32. Lesson learned. Why would they sell such junk? I guess I'll take it to the range and see what happens. Because they make money selling it. Who ever does their purchasing probably didn't do any research to find out that the ammo sucks. So instead of eating the bill they are going to sell it to whomever will buy it. Vicious 138 Posted May 31, 2013 They look nice, I may just remove the powder and primer to have some neat looking dummy rounds.
Tallday 10 Posted June 2, 2013 They look nice, I may just remove the powder and primer to have some neat looking dummy rounds. I have started to do just that all powder was removed from about 30 rounds and bullets too. Wonder if anyone could use the powder? 9X19 125 Posted June 2, 2013 They (Sarco) could not tell me with any certainty that is was non-corrosive so I passed on it a few weeks ago.
Vicious 138 Posted June 2, 2013 From what I have found, they should be non-corrosive. I really have zero experience with this. how do I pull the bullet without it blowing up in my face?

Tap the primer lightly with a nail and hammer No really don't do that lol buy a bullet puller it's a common reloading tool Sent from my hidden under ground bunker between Taco Bell and the dry cleaner
Vicious 138 Posted June 2, 2013 Haha, so doing it LIGHTLY is the key here. I guess I'll have to pick that up. Actually, I may just go to the range and keep the duds. This way I know the primers are inert.
johnp 45 Posted June 3, 2013 I'd at least try them before you pull them apart; maybe you'll get lucky and have no problems. If they are all duds meh such is life sometimes. Be mindful of hangfires.
Vicious 138 Posted June 3, 2013 I'll wait about 30 seconds. I hear that hang fires are usually pretty quick. If I have too many duds left over, I'll put the target out to 10 yards and throw them at it.

Vicious 138 Posted June 27, 2013 Funny you should ask, I just shot about 24 rounds today. No misfires, but a few didn't want to cycle the action properly. Additionally, they seemed hotter than Greek HXP. I will shoot the rest of what I have, but I will not buy the Iranian stuff anymore.
