Egyptian Maadi AK47 thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Since I cant get the Waffen Werks ak74 I was after due to NJ's insane laws.. I am now looking at a Egyptian Maadi AK47.

Anyone have or touch on of these? How's the build quality/finish? How's it shoot? I've been told they aren't stamped AK-47.

http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/egyptian-maadi-ak-47-fixed-stock-rifle-with-arabic-sandscript-markings-detail.html?Itemid=0

Is there a way to add a side scope mount after the fact? The Maadi doesn't seem to have one.

Thanks,

Mike

If you want a Waffen Werks just order one. I stand by the original thread that they are legal.

Everything I've read about the Egyptian Maadi says they are pretty good quality. Egypt got all of the tooling from Russia to build AKs, so it is similar to a Russian AKM.

I have read they have some tooling marks on them but shoot well.

There alot of  fail in this thread.

You can still get the Waffen Werks

The maadi is stamped

It is not an AK47, it is an AKM

Side mounts are not an easy "bolt on" type of affair, I would just live with it and use it how you should.  No optics (or run an ultimak).

Keep in mind this needs the slant brake welded on and the bayonet lug removed.

Yes, the maadis are good rifles.

Actually I meant the Maadi is not marked with AK*   I realize its a stamped receiver vs milled.. if that what you meant.

I just found a guy with this gun for sale.. Just double checking here its not stamped ak47.. but akm?   Would this be NJ legal if I have all other things fixed like removing the lug and pin brake??

...stampings don't matter.

It is not "substantially identical" to an "avtomat Kalashnikov type" if it does not have two or more evil features.

I am affiliated with JET Agent LLC and we would gladly transfer this and we can do the necessary modifications to make it legal

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.
    • 27.00 and change in tolls to drive down the shore from Rutherford,  47.00 in tolls to go out to Long island to visit dying relatives. Now I read they are going to raise the fees in the DMV. Murphy lied just to get elected when he said that seniors will get a significant tax break with his StayNJ" program to stop us from leaving.   Keep voting for democrats...this is what you get.  Tax and spend is all they know.  Never cut anything.  This state sucks.
