jrfly3006 42 Posted June 28, 2013 For any lawn guys on here.. Any recommendations for me to kill those annoying long grassy weeds that are invading my lawn.. Trying not to kill surrounding good lawn and not pull each one out.. Any herbicides or home made remedies? Edit.. Ive tried some of that store bought stuff(ortho i think) with mediocre results
O-gre 7 Posted June 28, 2013 Dismiss, expensive but a little goes a long way. If your close to Manalapan I can give you enough for a gallon.
Zerosignal 1 Posted June 28, 2013 John Deere sells small packets of Dismiss. I've been using Solitare which a broad spectrum weed killer. If your not using commercial stuff your wasting your time.
Donobieus 15 Posted June 28, 2013 I used to own a landscape company (a LONG time ago!) but the best stuff for nutshedge is called Manage...or used to be. I believe its now called "Sedgehammer" Nothing is perfect against it but this works the best

Dirt diver 0 Posted June 29, 2013 Ortho weed b gon works for nutsedge but you need to apply it twice over two weeks. Also if you have the time, pulling it by hand works best before it gets out of hand

Zerosignal 1 Posted June 29, 2013 Tenacity sold by John deer will get rid of it plus crab grass and annual blue grass, clover and a bunch of other stuff. Anyone have a cure all for lawn fungus?? Red thread and other types? I've had red thread last two years..This year I used Eagle "granular"didn't work that great. I pretty much pushed it out bagging grass for a few weeks and adding a extra shot of fertilizer. Last year I used prophecy. Worked MUCH better knocked it out within a week or so. With no added effort.
Phillies 2 Posted June 29, 2013 I had the same problem this year, and still do now to a lesser extent. I got some spray from Home Depot for $6 that kills it. But the problem is, where there is a clump of that ugly grass, there is no real grass there. So now you will have spots on your lawn that will be dead. Not exactly a great alternative. What I did, and it was a pain. I got some sod, and I cut out the larger spots and put sod in it's place. It was time consuming and I wasn't going to get all of it, but my lawn does look better now. Stonecoldchavez 92 Posted June 29, 2013 Now what about clover infestation?! I have clover too. I used commercial stuff called Three-way. Only licensed pesticide landscapers can get it. See of you know any that can get some for you.

mipafox 438 Posted June 29, 2013 Clover is awesome. I eat it. And it looks nice. That's like an extreme lawn complaint. I don't run that kind of lawn.

mipafox 438 Posted June 30, 2013 You water your lawn? Like flowers and crops? I know people do it out west, I know golf courses do it, and I hear NJDEP talk about it during droughts. But I didn't think that was the sort of thing ordinary people did.
