Been looking at the classes to become a range safety officer. When you look on the NRA site at the different places that do it, the price various sometimes by a hundred bucks. Anyone know why?

It all depends on what the company or training counsel wants to charge. It's up to them.

wow! I'm seeing average of $200 with some as much as $400

Class is pretty simple. Make sure you compare apples to apples as well. My class includes the course materials, NRA registration and certification fees as well as lunch. All inclusive.

Become an instructor and then take and pass a 1 day class

You do not have to be an NRA Instructor to take the RSO course.  If you are a NRA Instructor you can take an "in home validation" to become an RSO; if you are not an instructor you have to take a course.
