SirDaddy 0 Posted July 24, 2013 I was wondering if firearms I'd card can be laminated of if that invalidates it in some way. My cards get beat up fast in my wallet.

plode 0 Posted July 24, 2013 I've had mine laminated a couple of times(first lamination started peeling). A couple of gun shops I've been to actually laminate them for you for free.
Dave_D 0 Posted July 24, 2013 No issues here... My local PD actually told me to do it since they're easily beaten up. Rick over at OMG was nice enough to do it for me when I picked up my last transfer.
Howard 538 Posted July 24, 2013 My local PD gave me the laminate sheets so I could do it!

Night Prowler 0 Posted July 24, 2013 Before you laminate it make sure it is fingerprinted. It's happened before.
The_Matrix 105 Posted July 24, 2013 The gun store laminated mine. They asked if I wanted the card laminated, so I said "sure" as long its free.
Gunsrlegal 140 Posted July 24, 2013 Had mine laminated at Office Depot. It makes the card a little larger, but the FID is all ready bigger than a standard card (like a driver's license).
BlueLineFish 615 Posted July 24, 2013 Got mine laminated then trimmed it to fit behind my dl and police id

Vini 0 Posted July 24, 2013 Yes, local PD strongly advised to do so. I trimmed mine first (only empty sides), than laminated it.
Greydaddy 2 Posted July 24, 2013 I was wondering if firearms I'd card can be laminated of if that invalidates it in some way. My cards get beat up fast in my wallet. Did mine twice since '79 myself, never had a problem!
DSD1026 48 Posted July 24, 2013 Strangely enough my town told my wife not to laminate years ago when she did the address change.. This year when I got mine they suggested I get it laminated.. For the most part laminating is fine unless they specifically tell you not to
vmastro87 0 Posted July 24, 2013 mine is currently laminated, how about folding it in half so it fits in a GD wallet! God forbid they designed it the same size as a regular card!
carneyelec 0 Posted July 24, 2013 Thumbs up to Berkeley. Mine was issued already laminated.
SirDaddy 0 Posted July 24, 2013 Thanks for the feedback. I bought normal card size self adhesive laminate last night that was too small. I'll try again. My father was in the security business before he retired (cc tv, alarms, key cards). He has every imaginable cardholder but none big enough to hold fid so laminating seems best. Smokin .50 1,907 Posted July 25, 2013 Mines like almost 30 years old. I don't remember who laminated it, but it's been laminated for at least 25 of those years, lol! My "yellow card" actually says, "purchase and carry" for long guns, so it's a collector's item, lol! Dave
