New Jersey gun laws don't curb violence in Camden.

CAMDEN, N.J. — Anderson Baker lives in a state with a litany of gun regulations. But no law stopped him from becoming a teenage drug dealer who could easily acquire, and use, his weapon of choice.

The majority of guns used in crimes in Camden are illegal weapons.

If people want to talk about guns, Thomson pointed out that desperate people on the streets can easily work around the many gun laws in place.

Wasnt sure if this has already been posted.

Not a bad article all things considered.

I'm pretty sure they do curb violence. A lot more violent criminals and burglars would probably be shot if jersey honored The Second Amendment.

And I think that the Zimmerman case taught us that a heck of a lot of people are actually (and sincerely) more concerned about that reality than about people being victimized by criminals.

One problem, Thomson said, is that New Jersey borders Pennsylvania, a state with laxer gun laws.

As long as you can walk to Pennsylvania from the NJ State Capitol building, more gun control in NJ is going to have zero effect on gun crime in Camden, Trenton and Newark. (And Pennsylvania isn't going away any time soon.)

NJ's firearms homicide rate is 2.8/100,000 versus 3.9/100,000 for Florida. The gun-grabbers will claim that it's due to the draconian NJ firearms laws. But Vermont has a firearms homicide rate of 0.3/100,000 and some of the least restrictive firearms laws of any state.

NJ and Florida have similar ethnic/racial makeups. One difference may be that New Jersey has more stringent zoning laws than Florida.

It's the people, not the guns, and the gun-grabbers just can't seem to understand that.

It's not just the bad guys that shape a society. It's the good guys, too.

If God did not intend for Jersey citizens to be shorn, then why did he make them sheep?

New York City is pretty much the only place in the country where 40 people on a subway car will sit and watch one man bash a stranger's brains out with a hammer and do absolutely nothing about it. Jersey is a close second.
