Good Alternative To CZ 75

Recommended Posts

So I'm in interested in a CZ 75 and, of course, it seems it is the "must have' gun right now.  Especially the SP-01 version.

I'm also interested in the compact CZ 75 (I have smallish hands) and I saw this:

I think this is a beautiful looking gun (it has after market grips) .......but of course they stopped making the "dual tone" (also seen it listed as "duo tone) last year.

So that got me to reading other postings and I've seen people mention some CZ 75 clones.  Do the clones operate in a similar manner?  I've read that one of the things that makes CZs so accuarate and smoothe is that the slide is in the rail rather than on the rail as many other guns (hope I'm describing this correctly).  Also, are they have similiar reliablility?  One I saw that was very similari to the "duo tone" was this:

EAA Witness on top & Tanfoglio Mossad on bottom:

Duo / Dual Tone Tanfoglio Mossad:

Canik Shark:

Has anyone shot any of these CZ 75 clones AND a CZ 75 and be able to compare the two?  Wondering which ones are worth taking a look at and which ones should be avoided.

Thanks in advance for you input & advice.

Oh....before people ask, "What do you intend to use the gun for?".....I intend to use it primarily as a range gun and second as a back up to my Ruger GP100 as a 2nd home defense gun.

I have an IWI Baby Eagle in the marketplace that is a cz clone.  Very accurate, and the gun is built like a tank.  It looks very similar to the Canik Shark you posted.

You could go Tangfolio, but there is no reason to pass on the CZ's. Not sure why you are? You can find the dual tones on gun broker, you'll pay a little more but damn are those really nice.

Go CZ75b or 75b compact or go home!

I've been looking online and haven't seen a dual tone for the past week.  I'm going to continue looking but I'm considering alternatives because of:

1. It seems the CZ75 has gotten expensive as more people have discovered them.  If I can find a gun that shots as smoothly, looks very similar and is as reliable as a CZ then it would be something I would seriously consider.

2. The one I like, the dual tone, isn't in production any longer.  This makes it even more scarce and more expensive!

I just got my 2 permits so it isn't like the clock is ticking (yet) but I don't want to overpay (at least not outrageously so) for a gun.  So that's why I'm soliciting advice on come of the clones.

Hopefully I'll find a CZ that I like at a reasonable price but if not I would like something similar.

Thanks but I'm looking for a 9mm and would like to find one in dual tone if possible.  Nice looking gun though!  Why you selling it?

Had a CZ 75 BD for 10 years now; its one is on my "do not sell" list. IMHO, do the leg/phone work (there are a few in stock at czcuztom), call up shops, put money down, get a permit extension, and wait for the one you want, even if you need to pay more. "The poor man pays twice," applies here. There is a reason you see many EAA and clones for sale, but very few CZs.

I have the Tangfolio P Witness in .40 as well as the conversion kit in.45. The great thing about the Witness is EAA offers upper conversion kits in multiple calibers and barrel lengths. It is like owning multiple guns with one frame.  Both uppers are accurate shooters and feed everything I have put them.

I put a few things up for sale to try and offset the cost of a couple upcoming purchases. I am thinking of ordering a Wilson and they are not cheap lol.
