Just lost my best friend

Very sad. I've lost many dogs in my life. It's like loosing a child,,but with a dog, the best thing you can do is go get another one - immediately. They all share the same soul.  

 

^ this right here.  It doesn't replace your friend, but it fills the void.  We've always had a dog in the house.  Nothing soothes the loss like beginning to create new memories with that new puppy staring at you.

So sorry to hear of your loss, I know from personal experience how hard this can be.  This poem made me feel better when I lost one of mine, I hope it does the same for you:

 

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

Sorry for your loss. I was devastated when I lost my shepherd to cancer years ago. But like other have said a new puppy helps. For my 21at birthday my family gave me the best gift. A 2 month old shep and he's been my best friend for the last 8 years

Sorry for your loss. I have been there quite a few times, It sucks but its part of having dogs. The best way I know how to get over it is to get another dog.
