Take your stinking paws off me you damn dirty ape!

Recommended Posts

I've embarked on a journey to watch the most highly rated older movies.

Planet of the Apes was pretty good.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was good.

Rear Window was weak.

The Godfather was OK, yah thats right, just ok.

I'm just going to say it, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, sucked!  There, I said it.  And you know what, you cant do jack about it!

Up next, Once Upon a Time in the West then Casablanca.

And they better not suck either.

Mr Roberts Very Good  What was the name of the movie with Clint Eastwood where he is cutting through the German lines with a bunch of grave diggers to rob a bank?

That one was great.

Kelly's Heroes

(Was going to add that too but already had two Eastwoods)

SIX...The Major gives the rope a fix

SEVEN......Wladislaw throws the hook to heaven

EIGHT....Jimenez has got a date

NINE.....The other guys go up the line

TEN....Sawyer and Gilpin are in the pen

ELEVEN....Posey guards points five and seven

TWELVE.....Wladislaw and the Major go down to delve

THIRTEEN.....Franko goes up without being seen

FOURTEENN......Zero-hour – Jimenez cuts the cable, Franko cuts the phone

FIFTEEN.....Franko goes in where the others have been

SIXTEEN.....We all come out like it's Halloween

Another vote for Kelly's Heroes, one of my all time favorites.

Sand Pebbles is pretty good. Not funny at all, very tragic and a fairly accurate depiction of a time gone by.

Plenty of good older movies out there to watch. Having a 21 year old son I've learned that part of the issue is getting past the film technology of the day.

If you like Casablanca, and Bogart in general, check out African Queen. Classic Bogart.

When you watch Casablanca and think, "wow, these are some corny cliches", remember that this is the movie where they came from. When it was made, they were all brand new. and became cliches over time. It's like watching Citizen Kane. Everyone copied from it.

My all time favorite Humphrey Bogart movie is "Treasure of the Sierra Madre". I think that even today's audiences would appreciate that one. Badges, we don't need to stinking badges...

As for Clint Eastwood Spaghetti westerns from back then, try "For a few dollars more".

Another classic old western movie to see is "The Wild Bunch".

Hmm. If Rear Window was "weak" you might want to give up your quest, at least in the drama area.

Here are two little known classic comedy's from the forties:

The Miracle of Morgan Creek

The Great McGinty

The first is about a woman getting pregnant while at a soldier's farewell dance during WWII

And the other is about a bum made into a mayor via crooked politics.

You have irratically awfull tasts in moveies ;-) (I guss that mean irratically good also :-)).

The Godfarther 1 is one of the best movies of all time, any self-respecting gun owner knows this..GF2 was great too...GF3 is not so good.

The Good/bad/ugly - I guess you don't really have any guns do you ;-)...This is a +10 classic - you just need to do concious release of reality a little...Kinda like when you watch WWF - just not as much :-).
