mikeyboyeee 66 Posted September 9, 2013 Mine is sitting here next to my PC. Never carry it anymore, but I DO carry my FLorida CCW license along with either my PM9 or Xdm 3.8 .40 compact everywhere I go now
deerpark 83 Posted September 10, 2013 I'd be interested in compiling a list of places that ask for FIDs and P2Ps to examine merchandise. http://www.haguesgunrange.com/index.htm

DSD1026 48 Posted September 10, 2013 laminated and in the wallet.. trimmed the laminate down just enough that i can get it in the wallet.. never know when you might want to stop by a shop and get some ammo or even fondle a gun or something...
NickySantoro 211 Posted September 10, 2013 No. Not having it gives me a cooling off period to avoid buying something which, while appealing at the moment, is not something that will have value to me in the long term.
NJKen 23 Posted September 10, 2013 I always carry mine. I have a habit of stopping at any gun store I see in my travels. I also make purchases in my travels. I also usually have a valid pistol permit on me also. I dont want to let a deal escape me Ken

mickeyduck 0 Posted September 10, 2013 No, it's way to big to fit in my wallet & would overshadow my ego
SJ ED 0 Posted September 12, 2013 It's been in my wallet since 1990, laminated and trimmed. I keep it tucked away though so it does not show when I open my wallet. Of course I made a color copy too.
Contrvlr 17 Posted September 12, 2013 I keep it tucked away though so it does not show when I open my wallet. I whip mine out anytime I'm asked to present a second form of ID, no shame
carguy3j 0 Posted September 12, 2013 Is it possible to request a duplicate, at the same time you get the original, for the purpose of storing one in a safe place, while keeping one in your wallet? Or will "they"not do that? What if you "lost" the original, shortly after getting it? How long does it take to issue a duplicate, and does it "void" the original card, like a lost or stolen credit card?
BOOMSTICK 6 Posted September 12, 2013 I trimmed as much of the edges off as possible and then laminated it. Then I trimmed as much of the laminate off the edges as I thought I could get away with and it just fits in my wallet with the CC cards. ^^This
Grapeshot 301 Posted September 12, 2013 Didn't used to carry it, but started after the great ammo shortage. Laminated and in my wallet, will probably toss it back in the safe once I can get handgun ammo when I want it, and not when I run across it.
ryan_j 0 Posted September 13, 2013 I whip mine out anytime I'm asked to present a second form of ID, no shame I don't think I've ever been asked for secondary ID except when applying for a job (they won't accept the FID though) or at the MVC.

It fun to see the look on a bank tellers face when cashing a check at a bank other than my own "What's this ? " " NJ Firearms ID " " I don't think this is acceptable " "You should get the manager, I had to go through more backround checks to get that than you did for this job, it's accepted as 4 points towards the 6 needed to renew my license " It hasn't been refused yet

I use credit cards and withdraw foreign currency from ATMs with my US ATM card. I get a better rate that way too. Nick T 4 Posted September 13, 2013 Stopped carrying it when I got hired for fear of losing it now it just sits in the safe till I actually pick up a purchased firearm

In Europe you just need a credit card with a chip and PIN. They're starting to roll that out here in the states. I have a platinum amex with it. Buying gas in France on the weekend or buying train tickets in Germany can be a pain in the neck if you don't have one.

Yes I just received my chipped Amex recently and do have a Visa Card with it also attached to an overseas account but the exchange rate and transaction fees can be prohibitive.
