iCARRY 0 Posted October 3, 2013 Have you considered building a lower and getting a complete upper?
blksheep 466 Posted October 3, 2013 Possibilities are endless. Stag, Smith and Wesson are two that come to mind in that range. You can build it which is easy and a lot will reccomend. For a few hundred more you can mate a BCM upper to any lower and have a top notch AR.

Blake 50 Posted October 3, 2013 S&W or Stag are good options in that price range (or less) new. PSA makes good guns for the money, and they recently had a complete rifle kit less lower receiver for $480. You could also look around for a used Daniel Defense or BCM AR and I bet you can grab one at your price point. There is a glut of AR's on the market since everyone panic bought them and prices are very good right now, especially so on lightly used ones. If you troll the marketplaces on AR centered forums you will see what I am talking about.

vladtepes 1,060 Posted October 3, 2013 I don't know what I want. I don't have enough ar knowledge. and don't want to farg it up we can help you... if you ever played with legos... you can build an AR15...
Lalo 13 Posted October 3, 2013 Build one yourself. If you can follow directions/instructions and are somewhat good with tools (ie, use a hammer and nail) then you can build it yourself. You can buy a complete upper if you don't want to invest in tools and whatnot, or find someone with experience with the tools and have them help you along. Many people will have different thoughts about what type of AR's to get so do some reading as this has been beaten to death. If you want something decent and inexpensive, try Palmetto State Armory. Complete Upper - $600 - http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-16-chf-mid-length-ultra-lightweight-premium-rifle-kit.html Lower - $100 - http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-ap-lower-pictogram.html Lower Parts Kit - $50 - http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/featured/p-tac-ar-15-moe-lower-parts-kit.html There is a quick, budget AR for $750 + tax + shipping + FFL fees for lower + NJ compliance for break, bayo lug, pin stock
azmaveth 1 Posted October 3, 2013 You could get a Colt for $1099. Grant at G&R has them in stock. And he's a great guy to deal with. http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=6920 However, you'd need to send it somewhere to get some mods done. You'll need to have the bayonet lug removed. Have the stock pinned. And have a muzzle brake pinned and welded. Steve at Adco does good work. http://adcofirearms.com/ Or you could send it to one of the forum sponsors to do the compliance work. I believe Nick from Mastodon Ammo & Camo can help you with that. http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/forum/115-mastodon-ammo-camo/

Plasma133 0 Posted October 6, 2013 I built this for $750 Inbox me, I'd be happy to help you build one for yourself if you wanted. I'm very interested in building my next AR. I already have a Ruger SR-556 piston AR and I have nothing but praise for it. The only knock I can give it is the monolithic upper that I can't replace the barrel or op-rod should I ever have to. Thus, I would like to have a DI as well. Could you send me a parts list of what you used and the approximate price including the tools? Thanks, -Plasma133

checko 180 Posted October 9, 2013 +1 for stag. Love my 3h. If you can spend a little bit more, though, I'd second the BCM
Sht 3 Posted October 14, 2013 I wish I could go back & do it all over again with just a few hundred more. Mine came in right around $1000 & if you save up a little longer your options really open up. No matter what you think you want now it's going to change as you start shooting. If I could do it over again I get a BCM middy upper & I would have dropped more $ into my lower. I guess it will have to wait for AR #2.

Lalo 13 Posted November 1, 2013 Well I purchased my first AR last week. Its a S+W 15 orc I'm making a few changes. pics will follow soon. Congrats on your purchase! I have one and hasn't failed me yet. 0 malfunctions after 1000+ rounds and it shoots everything I feed it.

checko 180 Posted November 1, 2013 I have one. I don't know if I like it yet to be honest. I don't know if it will hold up well. Ive heard of some people really liking them but people also may have a tendency to hit it too early and close the bolt on an empty chamber. That could be problematic. If you decide to use it. Use it EVERYTIME.
JoeTK37 8 Posted November 1, 2013 I have a BAD on one AR and not on the other. I miss it on the new one. I'm comfortable with the charging handles, but just find the bolt release to be in a miserable place for use. I'm not one to insert a mag and inmediately release the bolt. I usually load the mag, set up on the bags and release from there. So I'm a big fan of the BAD.
NYMetsFan86 9 Posted November 1, 2013 i have the BAD lever and quite honestly i had never even shot an ar before the one I have so ive used it from the start. That being said I like it and I find myself so used to it I wish I had one on my 7.62.. so far it has not gotten in the way of my finger either
