fishnut 2,358 Posted November 28, 2013 They are not to easy to find but I use a drop box at a VFW that is a flag disposal service. Its just an old mailbox that they have out front. Call your local VFW they may know where one is around you.
Bri894 17 Posted November 28, 2013 X2. Your local American Leigon or VFW will take care of it for you. Just drop it off . Most have a mail box for old flags right near the front door
matt1751 2 Posted November 28, 2013 Not sure where your located but I know in Lambertville there is a drop off box(old mailbox) by City Hall. If your not near there then as others stated check with your local VFW.
Heavyopp 167 Posted November 28, 2013 You could contact Rich Ruff at OBRPC -- The youth smallbore shooters hold a flag burning ceremony every year where they dispose of old flags --
9X19 125 Posted November 28, 2013 I think the Boy Scouts take in old American Flags to dispose of properly.

Porthole 15 Posted November 28, 2013 Boy Scouts. My town has a drop box right inside the door of the municipal building for flags (Wall Township).
greatgunstatenj 32 Posted November 29, 2013 Or you could just do it yourself... US Flag Code. TITLE 4 > CHAPTER 1 > Sec. 8(k). It states: "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning"
CMJeepster 2,777 Posted November 29, 2013 Fold, place in paper bag, lay on roaring fire.
HBecwithFn7 296 Posted November 29, 2013 Fold, place in paper bag, lay on roaring fire. Precisely. It's always how I was taught to dispose of an old, worn out US flag, back in my scout days. It's a pity that we now even have to consider something like a "flag burning" amendment. I guess they better get the "language" on that juuuuuussst right! NJKen 23 Posted November 29, 2013 Ive always burned them. The first time you do it it feels dam weird. I refuse to fly a tattered flag and I feel naked if I am not flying one. Retiring a weathered flag is just about an annual event at my house. Ken
