Will non-acetone np remover affect Cerakote finish?

Hey guys, just got my AR upper, lower and handguard back from being Cerakoted by EFR (Brian does great work) and have a question about color filling some of the markings.

 

Will try nail polish for the color fill (as my wife already has some in the house) but my question is whether or not NON ACETONE nail polish remover will affect or damage the Cerakote?

 

Anyone have any experience in this area?

I am not sure that it will or will not.. but cerakote is some pretty heavy duty stuff... but the reality is nail polish is not all that durable... I would consider some type of enamel paint maybe testors or something.. a fine brush.. and some serious patience..

Damn looks like cerakote can take just about anything. Thanks @tommygun.@vladtepes, best place to get testors paint other than the web? Would a craft store like michaels or ac moore have it?

I bought the testors paint and the paint thinner at Michael's. I used the thinner to clean/degrease the metal, applied the paint, flashed it with a hair dryer for a few then cleaned off excess paint with the thinner.

Worked awsome.

That looks awesome. Do you just use a very light touch with the paint thinner after painting so that you don't take off the paint in the grooves, too?

not my thing BUT really good job.. that came out a million times better than nail polish.. and just illustrates how good something can look when you don't half ass it..

1. I actually soaked a rag with thinner,

and cleaned the whole area I was going to paint. (Let dry)

 

2. I used a toothpick to drip the paint

Into the stamping on the receiver,

Didn't go nuts, just enough to fill

fill the etching,

 

3. I hit the paint with a hair dryer for a

min. Or so till the paint skinned

over. Let stand for 5-10 min.

 

4. Finally with a soft cloth, very very

gently wiped over the paint to

remove the excess paint from the

receiver. The paint would remain in

the lettering, and logo.

 

P.s. It's really not very hard to do, it's more intimidating than anything. By the way, this was the first time I've ever done the coloring. So you can see, just take your time and it will come out nice.

Looks good for sure, great job ... with the snow i was bored and decided to just try black nail polish. I know its no testors but it came out great. Again, i have a psa stealth lower and was just filling some letterimg. Will post pics later.

I really like that contrast on the tan receiver. I'll have to do that when I have my rifle cerakoted.
