I wonder how long these will be legal

From the video, a direct quote:

“The acoustic wave that is imparted into the target is sent along predictable vectors. This action creates an ease of entry by reducing the deceleration at the point of impact, allowing potential energy to be conserved, thus transferring a devastating kinetic energy wave. The result is a high level of accuracy and repeatability where it counts.”

My G-D some one innovated something useful!!

More like someone has been playing too much "Mass Effect"

That's awesome! What a load of horse crap!

Why would you want to?

Total gimmick.

Watch the vids. The bullet breaks into numerous slivers, each one minimal in mass and size. Hell, it has low mass to begin with, at a reported 95gr - it is a 9mm that is about equal to a .380 ACP. The small fragments appear to stop at a very superficial depth. In the video it looks like about 1/4 of the distance of the total 20" gel block... so say maybe 5" or so of penetration. Enough to hurt no doubt, but not enough to hit anything important. Finally, just a tiny piece of the bottom of the bullet - figure less mass than a .380 ACP - penetrates to any decent amount while making a very minimal permanent wound - it is essentially a .32 ACP ball round.

Those little slivers would probably hurt like a son of a gun, and give a Dr at the ER a fit. While they wont increase the morale of anyone who has been shot with it, I don't think these projectiles will do much to quickly stop a determined attacker or increaese the rate of incapacitation over regular hollow points or even ball ammo - barring the proverbial "lucky shot". They offer absolutely no advantage over traditional hollow point ammo and in fact seem to me to be inferior in every way - Unless you want to pop balloons in a really cool way in slow motion... Then these totally rock!

However, these rounds are excellent at their intended purpose - Making the company that developed these rich. At over $2.00 a round they will quickly drain your money from your wallet.

So the damage is the result of sound waves? First time I've ever heard that used as a tool to market ammo.

In a fluid the projectile fragments. Due to the trocar geometry of each petal the resulting diameter of the fragmentation pattern is maximized. The trocar tips allow the fragments to swim through tissue / gel with less resistance thus conserving energy. The cross sectional thicknesses and geometries also create a full 180 degree flip halfway along each of the 8 petals path. The resulting shock wave and wound path is maximized. The result is devastating.

G2R's relentless study and applied physics have derived a radically invasive projectile that outperforms the rest.

BINGO!

“This bullet is designed to take out all your vital organs…inferior bullets won’t be a problem anymore,”said Cliff Brown, G2 Research President.

If so, I want some.

How can it even get to any vital organs to do any damage with such dismal penetration characteristics? If those slivers do reach anything important, how much damage can they do? It would be like someone stabbing your guts with a hatpin. Sure you will bleed but the wound channel is almost non existent. Look at the photos of the (non standard and apparently uncalibrated) gel block from their own video.

Again, very dramatic popping balloons in slow motion, flesh and bone is another story entirely.

Will all ammunition, science applies... is there a trade off with penetration?  What other products out there are similar?
