Recon Racoon 49 Posted February 8, 2014 So after having my FID for a few years, I'm finally starting to think about getting a pistol. And the first one I want to get is a 1911 clone. I know what some of you guys are going to say 'Why not just save up and get a good 1911?!' Well, I'm a glutton for punishment and like experimenting. So I found TISAS brand 1911's. Made in Turkey to NATO standards. Decent price at 419.00 from Buds. I'm not even close to ready to buy one yet, I'm just looking around and getting opinons right now. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_1171/products_id/411552921 What do you guys think? djg0770 481 Posted February 8, 2014 If you want to go cheap I would suggest Rock Island. At least they have been in the US a few years and have a support structure.
Double Cheese 8 Posted February 8, 2014 I have no experience with the Tisas 1911. However, hickok45 on YouTube did a review of this gun not too long ago: Doesn't look bad.
Recon Racoon 49 Posted February 8, 2014 RIA is on my list too. I've held one, it felt great. Just fit right, felt right, looked right. And RIA is pretty well known and has great products for their price range. TISAS caught my attention because of the price range I'm looking in and thought you guys would have the skinny on it. Rob0115 1,105 Posted February 17, 2014 I've heard, and this could be a wives tale, that RIA machinery was originally older Colt.

plumbshotsam 6 Posted December 14, 2014 Anyone out there still talking about Tisas 1911's? I picked mine up Thursday afternoon. I found it used on Gunbroker for $275.00 1911A1 black, and I never would have guessed that it was not factory new!!! Only looked like less than a box of rounds through it, hammer had just a whisper of wear, entire gun looked primo. I'm guessing the reason was that there was a very slight problem with the mag ( ...a wise old range officer at Heritage told me anytime you have a 1911 problem, try a different brand mag FIRST!!) he was right. Tried a colt mag and worked fine; took a close look at the Tisas and found that a hint of adjustment where the mag touched the ejector button did the trick. Friday, put two boxes of reloads through it with only one jam, and I'm sure that that will work itself out in a few hundred rounds. NOW, HERE'S THE KICKER!!! The only reason I hesitated on the TIsas to start with was because I was afraid of a crappy trigger which is all you really hear about. I was very disappointed with a Rock Island 1911 trigger I rented from RTSP and held off buying one. Maybe I just got lucky, but my Tisas trigger was really sweet! Even my FFL who checked it out before transfer couldn't believe how crisp and easy it was! He even told me when he opened the box upon receipt he said to himself, OK, trigger job, but changed his mind on trying it. It shot really nice and the sights were very good also; I'm still getting used to it but I think I found me a winner; ....especially at that price!!! Anyone else with a Tisas update?
