Nick T 4 Posted February 19, 2014 I have a 26" vent rib for my 870 while many people will tell me to buy a new one I personally like the look of a hacked down vent rib number one and number two I'm buying a 28" vent rib for trap skeet and ducks. So what's the best way? A hack saw and a file

junkmanted 54 Posted February 19, 2014 Pipe cutter and a hacksaw? I think JunkManTed has done it... pipe cutter wont work with the rib . I would cut it with a saw then dress it up on a table top belt sander , then cold blue it .

Where did you measure from chamber closed or from end of barrel to desired amount cut off
junkmanted 54 Posted February 19, 2014 I would go from the chamber . Add a little so you can clean up the saw cut .
Pew Pew Plates 358 Posted February 20, 2014 Use a dowel down the barrel on a closed bolt. I believe that is the official way...but double check. I am not certain
