csb85 2 Posted March 9, 2014 I soaked the furniture in acetone to get the cosmoline out of it. Then i lightly sanded it with 220 grit sand paper. I used about 8 coats of Formbys low gloss tung oil and steal wooled it with 0000 steal wool in between coats. I could have spent more time sanding it to get it a little nicer but I like the used look.

edwill86 0 Posted March 14, 2014 If anyone sees m70 Opap for sale let me know. I have a 12 month 0% Apr card and I'm ready to rack up Some crippiling debt!
edwill86 0 Posted March 27, 2014 I'm going to bump this thread. The opaps have become hard to come by and if I can find one they are looking like they will be out of my price range. So suggestions? Ak47 variant I'd like to stay under 600 if possible. 7.62x39. Thanks again. Or if you see an opap for sale around 600 bucks let me know!
csb85 2 Posted March 27, 2014 Atlantic has the n-pap in stock for 529. They also have hand selected romanian rifles for 650. Since they hand select them you shouldn't have to worry about canted sights. http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/premium-select-wasr-ak47-rifle-combo-detail.html?Itemid=
edwill86 0 Posted March 28, 2014 The hand select is cool but at that price + I need the brake pinned and on that one the bayo.lug taken off. After all that and ffl its almost an 800 AK.
csb85 2 Posted March 28, 2014 Yeah that's true. I can't believe how much the O-paps went up in the last couple of months.
edwill86 0 Posted March 28, 2014 I know. But century isn't importing them anymore so they can start to gouge.
edwill86 0 Posted March 28, 2014 Any input on these : http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/bak-132-black-poly-rusian-ak47-detail.html?Itemid=0 http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/rusian-ak47-bax-132-7-62x39mm-rifle-detail.html?Itemid=0 They are normally cheaper when they come in stock. I like the wood better but the trade off is a saiga. They are a little pricy even when the price is lower but I might be willing to spend a little more on a Russian saiga. edwill86 0 Posted March 28, 2014 That's cool but I'd have to buy with my credit card and I know on PayPal that incures some big charges.
Damjan 73 Posted March 28, 2014 That's cool but I'd have to buy with my credit card and I know on PayPal that incures some big charges. Many dealers will also charge you 3% on top of your purchase when you pay for your gun by credit card. Take that into account as well if buying from a dealer. By the way have you found someone to do the compliance work?
Damjan 73 Posted March 28, 2014 Call Bill. He had an OPAP in stock a while back. Maybe he still has it. He does work with NJ Buyers. Don't know about compliance work. edwill86 0 Posted March 28, 2014 I'll give him a call thanks. I contacted Steve at Monmouth arms and hes agreed to do the ffl and the compliance.
ogfarmer 138 Posted March 28, 2014 ^ Bill does NJ compliance work, at least that's what he told me last year
edwill86 0 Posted March 28, 2014 I emailed him. I might call Tm though. I hope bill has one and can do the work. That would be great. I could pick it up and head to easton to shoot it
carl_g 568 Posted March 29, 2014 I saw a pap at the gun show today. Are you sure you are OK with the wood on these? I am not sure if they are all the same but the one I saw, the wood was crap.
edwill86 0 Posted March 29, 2014 They are surplus wood. I plan on oiling it

edwill86 0 Posted April 1, 2014 ok guys should I pull the trigger on this one: http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/cai-ak-47-wasr-10-7-62x39mm-rifle-detail.html?Itemid=0 the price is right..there are a few things id like to change like the pistol grip but as a first rifle ( of my own) im not sure if I should cheap out. should i wait until the end of the week and risk these selling out and try and get one of these instead? http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/bak-132-black-poly-rusian-ak47-detail.html?Itemid=0 i like the fact its a saiga and its well done. id only have to pay to have the ak74 styl brake welded. on the wasr i have to have the bayo lug done as well. i like the wood though..but i could always buy wood furniture for the saiga if i get bored of the poly later on. need a little advice..... lol
carl_g 568 Posted April 2, 2014 Well it depends what you are after.. The saiga is Russian built in the factory Kalashnikov worked. The saiga is solid but in my opinion they did that build wrong. They screwed up on the fsb. Instead of using a 74 threaded fsb, they threaded the barrel. As an AK 103, It looks wrong..but that's me being picky. The WASR on the other hand is a more accurate AKM clone. It has the 45 degree gas block and the slant brake which is more authentic. Good luck! I think you will enjoy either one. edwill86 0 Posted April 2, 2014 Thanks for the input. Am I right in assuming the wasr 10s are better quality then then ones from a few years ago ? Iv read a lot of bad things but they are all from 2011 back.
edwill86 0 Posted April 5, 2014 So I got 200 rounds of 7.62x39 3 tapco 10rd ak47 mags and a hogue grip now I just need a rifle lol. I'm pretty set on the saiga bak 132 from Atlantic. I think its worth spending a little more on my first rifle to get exactly what I want. But if they are still out of stock this time next week I think in going to order the wasr 10. RecessedFilter 222 Posted April 6, 2014 Weren't you looking of an M70? A few places have them back in stock I believe..
edwill86 0 Posted April 6, 2014 eh I changed my mind. Id rather have a Russian ak variant, or the wasr 10. im going full out or cheap lol. we will see what happens this week.
RecessedFilter 222 Posted April 7, 2014 I'd get the converted Saiga if I were you. Also, I'd put aside money for some more mags. You can never have enough!
edwill86 0 Posted April 7, 2014 Yeah I'm really digging the converted saiga. Just need them to come in stock asap. Lol. I know. I have 3 so far. I'll prob get more next time I buy ammo.
edwill86 0 Posted April 9, 2014 I ordered the saiga. They got more in stock but the price jumped. I had it added to my cart when I noticed it jumped in price so I pulled the trigger. I'm not thrilled with the price but I got exactly what I wanted.
