gfl216 220 Posted May 15, 2014 Can anyone recommend someone in the Northern Ocean County area who could build me a custom shed / bar for my pool area? Maybe someone who would work for guns, cash, or a combo of both?
Blake 50 Posted May 16, 2014 Interested in this but for my yard (no pool). Need either a garage or large shed w/ loft built to house our stuff. Would rather employ a pro 2a guy than call someone out of the phone book.
gfl216 220 Posted May 16, 2014 Blake, if I find someone, I'll let you know. If you find someone first send them my way.
Reddog87 0 Posted May 16, 2014 Do you have a set of plans drawn up yet? I am a NJ lic contractor located in central NJ, and would be happy to give you a written quote.
NJSigfan 218 Posted May 16, 2014 This something I would be interested in. Obviously looking to stay under the costs of a prefab one.
gfl216 220 Posted May 17, 2014 Nothing drawn up at this time.
Jackson1450 0 Posted May 17, 2014 Unfortunately in no way would a custom shed be cheaper than a prefab shed from Home Depot or wherever. They come with paper thin walls, undersized framing. Lucky If they last ten years.
iCARRY 0 Posted May 17, 2014 If you get plans, are somewhat handy, and have some standard tools, it would not be too hard to do yourself. Cost will be more then the Home Depot sheds but will be much better, should be in the range of those Amish sheds.
NJSigfan 218 Posted May 17, 2014 I wasn't considering the HD version, but rather the quality amish builds. I would just rather spend my money with someone who has the are 2a belief.
RubberBullets 65 Posted May 17, 2014 I concur with the quality of having a custom shed built. You have a lot more input on how it is to be constructed than buying a prefab. I opted to build my own 16x18 and it gave me ability to do things such as 2x6 rafters, 8 ft tall walls, his/her lofts, or roof vents instead of gable. I also drove out to an ahmish shed builder to buy my door because to buy it local was over $500. Buying it in PA was $275. I had the pad poured by a mason for $1200, but the material besides that cost about $4000 http://imgur.com/a/b4UCZ
njpilot 671 Posted May 17, 2014 Nice shed RB. My dad had a shed built back when I was a kid. Thing was rock solid. I would say better than any prefab you could buy.
Zeke 5,504 Posted May 17, 2014 Anything custom will be way more expensive than a "kit". Those kits are junk! I'm a pa and nj licensed contractor. If you are handy I would be more than happy to guide you through the building process. Or help you. Pm me. Ck into your local codes for setbacks and size and height restrictions.
