Shotgun Shootout! June 7th at Clinton WMA

9am at the Clay range

Please try and bring everything you can in terms of a gun, ammo, and clays.

A rough check list of what to bring:
- Gun(s)
- Ammo (birdshot #7, 7.5, 8)
- Clays
- Thrower if you have one
- Eyes and ears
- Shell pouch
- Beverages/snacks
- Layer up and bring a warm jacket/gloves/hat depending on weather
- Chair

If you can't bring some things, we will have plenty of stuff there. If you've never shot a shotgun before, I and others will try working with you to be able to dust a clay by the end of the day!

Gun rules to remember:

Always treat a gun as if it was loaded
Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot
Never point the muzzle at anything you're not willing to destroy
Always be aware of you're target/line of fire
For this range, keep all guns unloaded until you're on the firing line

Be smart, be safe, and we will have a fun-filled day!

Also, an FYI: Dicks has Federal 12G, 2 3/4", #8 breast cancer shells as buy 4 ($6.99 ea) get 1 free.  I didn't see this advertised and didn't find out until I was home and looked at the receipt.  Dunno if there's a limit, but if not, would make it $56 a case

If you can get to Jim Flynn's during the week, he has 12 ga target loads for $61/case (tax included) and clays $11.50/case, tax included.  That's his everyday price-out the door-  Just keep in mind, he's Cash or check only...no credit or debit.

 

A little more than Dick's "special" but you're supporting a LGS instead of paying a CEO's bonus.

Just today I realized the Reading Air Show is this weekend so with that said, I may be going to that saturday instead. I did not realize this date would interrupt that. It's an awesome air show and I don't want to miss it, I've gone the past two years and it's a lot of fun. 

 

If I do go, it's really not that big of a deal and the shootout will still go on of course.

I don't know if I will be there or not until that morning. It all depends on the weather tonight and tomorrow and how much rain we get. If we get a lot rain and my fields are muddy and I can't plant then I will be there. If the fields aren't too muddy then I might not be there, depends if I wanna start my day late or not.

The first shootout I ever attended there was on a Sunday, when they were also having a license exam on the far side. It also happened to be the only one (so far) that included a visit by the F & W  Police, playing "bad ass."  The guy sees me first, apparently, and blurts out, "Are you charge?"  I pointed to Drez (     )... I have no idea what the problem was, but it didn't look/sound good. Later, though, all seemed resolved and our group remained "in tact" (i.e. no one was "escorted off.")...
