Another 15 round magazine question!!!

Recommended Posts

Sorry about another one of these questions. I know there are a million of these. Are 15+ round detachable magazines legal to own in new jersey? Because  bolt action and pump action rifles do not have any restriction, so can I have a 30 round magazine for my bolt action?

I am thinking about this because of that pump action troy industries ar. Are Nj resisedence even able to order off line 15+ round AR mags? Because if they cannot where the heck should they buy the magazines.

In addition, I want to pin my own magazines.

The gun does not matter - the law says not Hi-Cap magazines that can

hold more then 15 rounds.

As to where you can buy your mags? Same as everyone else - either you buy

5, 10 or 15 round mags on line, or you by 15/20 or 15/30 mags from dealers

(or individuals) who have converted them before selling to the public.............

Believe it or not New Jersey residents are allowed to travel out of the state, it's not completely Nazi Germany. You can go to Delaware or Pennsylvania and buy anything you want as far as mags go just like buying a candy bar, just sayin....

Just don't get pulled over on the way back home!  You can't use 30 round mags at the range in case you get caught!  You could keep them at home but if for any reason you are ever caught

with them you will be an instant Felon. Is it really worth it???

You can only pin your own mags outside of the state. The pin may also not be able to be removed which is why it is better to have a gunsmith do it and keep your receipt!!!

zaco519, it is possible to have a 100 round Beta Mag for your pump-action AR-15 and legally own it in NJ. You would have to modify the mag so it does not fit a regular AR-15. You would then have to modify the rifle to accept the modified mag.

The restriction I'd on mags that can be used in a semi auto. There is a Nappen case where he successfully defended someone who had a 50 round drum for a thompson on the grounds that it was for a full auto, not a semi auto.

Adding to those who have posted above, it is specifically for magazines that are capable of feeding ammunition into a SEMI-automatic firearm.

If the magazine is ONLY capable of feeding ammo into a pump/lever/bolt action firearm, you can have it as big as you want.

E.g., you can make a custom 100-round Mosin magazine, as long as it only works with Mosins. Or you can extend the tube on a pump/lever gun 100 feet out in front of the barrel. Good luck using it, though ;)
