Tango Charlie 0 Posted July 16, 2014 Is anyone going to the gun show at the Philly national guard armory this weekend? My wife and I are planning on going there this Saturday.
NYMetsFan86 9 Posted July 16, 2014 Anyone been before that could give a bit of info on what they have there
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted July 16, 2014 It's close by so I may go Saturday (IDPA match on Sunday). It's been a while. Decent show, not exceptional. Good ammo guy close to the front door. Chip (Top Hat) of USANA set-up back in the corner, Ed's from Tamaqua (good selection of guns & mags) and the usual other suspects. These recollections are from a couple years ago, so I don't know if they still hold true today. Maybe see you there - I'll most likely be wearing a real-tree camo hat with an orange S&W logo (big surprise). Adios, Pizza Bob
ogfarmer 138 Posted July 16, 2014 Very tight aisles cause it's not very large room. variety of everything ,like any gun show these days some over priced things and some not so. It's up to you to know what's a deal or not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
boo 6 Posted July 16, 2014 Is it common for dealers to be willing to ship handguns to NJ FFLs? Or does mentioning NJ get me shunned?
ogfarmer 138 Posted July 16, 2014 they will ship, just have to have your ffl contact them
RobertJames 14 Posted July 16, 2014 Philly is too far, I'll be going to Windgap, PA.
Tango Charlie 0 Posted July 16, 2014 That's right.. There is a show at Wind Gap. Even though the driving time is the same I'd rather drive westward than southward. Less traffic that way. From what I was seeing online it seems that the Wind Gap show has lesser tables than the Philly one.
ogfarmer 138 Posted July 16, 2014 Wind Gap is a lot smaller compared to Philly, Windgap is in a firehouse hall,
SJG 253 Posted July 16, 2014 There is very little that you will see at any of these shows, that you can't purchase at a lower price on the internet. However, that being said, you will get a chance to eyeball alot of stuff, that may help you confirm present impressions and future selections.
RobertJames 14 Posted July 17, 2014 Wind Gap is a lot smaller compared to Philly, Windgap is in a firehouse hall, Yes, but more importantly I won't have to go to Phillthy.
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted July 17, 2014 Yes, but more importantly I won't have to go to Phillthy. While technically it is NE Philly, you aren't anywhere near the city. It is more Neshaminy than Philly. Easy access.
AlDente67 563 Posted July 17, 2014 The PA armory is an easy ride across the river on route 1. Well north of Philly proper. Although the last time I went, it was cancelled at the last minute. We drove up to find a bunch of people bothering a Guard dude waving people away.
D. Stallone 1 Posted July 18, 2014 I`ll be heading to the one in Philly. with my buddy on Sunday.
Tango Charlie 0 Posted July 19, 2014 Went to the one in Philly. It was OK. There were some average prices on some rifles like the 10/22 but there were some jacked up prices. They are definitely taking advantage of the Russian import ban. One vendor wanted to sell a plain Jane Saiga for a grand and another wanted to sell a case of 7.62 for $325. If people buy it that's on them. Prices on other handgun ammo were still too high. I'd rather buy from Cabela's or price hunt on gunbot.
ogfarmer 138 Posted July 19, 2014 Thats the thing, you need to know whats a deal and whats not when you go
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted July 19, 2014 As I said - it has been a couple years since I did this show last. I was underwhelmed. Tons of Chinese optics and knives and other garbage. The best value I saw was for some handmade fixed blade knives that the guy was clearing out for $50 - your choice. These included some nice bone-handle, Damascus bladed knives, all with leather sheaths. Very few revolvers - more Taurii and Ruger than anything else. One S&W Model 15 Ed McGivern Commemorative in nickel and a couple 629 Classics. Kind of disappointing. Adios, Pizza Bob
RobertJames 14 Posted July 19, 2014 I found a US Property marked #4 Enfield made by Savage. Not perfect, but nicer than the other one that I've got. It came home with me, I'm a sucker for history like that. Price was okay, I didn't try too hard to talk the seller down. I also got a hand-guard and a front sight. Ammo was still higher than I'm willing to pay but available, I even saw multiple 5500 round cases of .22. Russian guns were not as overpriced as I expected.
