Getting rid of snakes

Recommended Posts

So I've found that I have a few snakes on my property. Normally, I'd let them be but they've taken over my hose reel and I have a high aversion to slithering things. I've called a few pest control companies and the ones that do deal with snakes want an exorbitant amount of money to "guarantee" their removal.

Another thing is that they seem to be replicating and that's another reason I want them gone.

Any suggestions??

Eliminate their food source. They are on your property for a reason. You may want to decide what's worse; snakes or the rodents/creatures they feed on.

I have a large black snake in my garden this year; it stays because the mole population is greatly diminished and the garden is thriving.

I didn't see the mamma. I only found the babies in the hose reel. The mamma always slithers away when I'm around.

I really don't know what kind as I've never been into snakes. If I had to venture a guess, prob a black snake or garter snake.

Northern Brown Ground is very popular around here. Most are 8" to 18" in length.  Chickens love all bugs.  Let them loose in the yard on a weekly basis to keep ticks down. Keeps the dog tick free.

Personally, if it wasn't a poisonous snake, I'd leave them alone. Go kick the box a few a times a day, they'll figure out they don't want to live there and move on.

Generally speaking they are quite beneficial to your property, the eat bugs and mice and so on. The fact that they are there means they have something to eat that might be a bigger pest to you then the snakes. I have a couple living in my yard, the eat the mice that sneak into my detached garage. I've had far fewer mouse problems since they've showed up so I do my darnest to not run them over with a lownmower.

Mikey Chester is close enough for me. I am free on Friday and Saturday for the most part or Monday after 5 pm. Or next week I will be free on Friday through Monday. Also I will be relocateing the snakes if you would like me to. I will not be keeping them if anyone was wondering

LOL guys, no I'm a snake enthusiast and have been breeding snakes for 17 years. I don't like snakes being killed needlessly so if someone has an issue with snakes I will come by and remove them for free and release them
