sixgun 1 Posted August 25, 2014 I have a older gp 100, is it possible to get sights like on the gp 100 talo put on this gun, i realize it would take a dovetail for the rear sight just wondering if it can be done or not? Thanks
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted August 25, 2014 Anything can be done - the question you want to ask is: Is it cost effective?
sixgun 1 Posted August 26, 2014 I'm sure it's cheaper than a new revolver, so to me yea it would be cost effective.
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted August 26, 2014 I wouldn't be too sure. I assume that you are talking about Ruger's set-up that allows you to easily interchange front sight blades. I'm no machinist, but, it would require removal of the current sight blade. Fill the slot with weld and then custom cut the non-standard dovetail for the Ruger sight, as well coming up with the "guts" that allow interchangeability - -some kind of spring and plunger set-up. I would wager that it would be more cost effective to sell your older GP100, put some cash with the money you make (probably far less than the cost of converting) and then buying a new (or used) Ruger with the sight set-up you desire. Now if somebody comes up with a conversion kit - like Weigand has for S&W L-frames, then it's a different story. Good luck in your quest. Adios, Pizza Bob
