Please try and bring everything you can in terms of a gun, ammo, and clays. A rough check list of what to bring:

- Gun(s)

- Ammo (birdshot #7, 7.5, 8)

- Clays

- Thrower if you have one

- Eyes and ears

- Shell pouch

- Beverages/snacks

- Layer up and bring a warm jacket/gloves/hat depending on weather

- Chair

If you can't bring some things, we will have plenty of stuff there. If you've never shot a shotgun before, an experienced shooter will try working with you to be able to dust a clay by the end of the day!

Gun rules to remember:

- Always treat a gun as if it was loaded

- Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot

- Never point the muzzle at anything you're not willing to destroy

- Always be aware of you're target/line of fire

- Keep all guns unloaded until you're on the firing line

We need at least one person with the group to have a hunting license. If you're coming, please reply to this thread and note if you are bringing a thrower and/or have a license.

Attending:

1. Lalo

2. ogfarmer (lic+thrower)

3. Damjan (lic)

4. magnawing +1

How much does it cost to use the facility and purchase clays on-site?  Just trying to tally up everything as I have never been to one of these things.  Definitely interested though.

It doesn't cost anything to use the facilities. You go, park your car, unpack your stuff and start shooting. You do have to bring everything yourself as there is nothing available on-site. No bathrooms, or stores in the facility. There are plenty of shops in the area for food and bathroom but nothing at the field.

Buy the clays and ammo you need from your favorite LGS and bring it with you.

Clays are sort of a "community" thing.  Ideally, everyone brings a box and contributes it to the "community."  Ammo, OTOH, is your own thing.  We're also very good with sharing the guns themselves if you'd like to try a gun you've never shot before. Just ask the owner.  :)

Looks like the weather at Clinton for tomorrow is going to be perfect! No rain in sight until Monday. Sunny, high in the mid 60's. I'm going to try and get there by 8:30-8:45am. Look for a burgundy 4 door JK.

    • I very seriously doubt this has anything to do with terrorism.    1) Harbor pilots are VERY seriously vetted, and highly trained. Not to mention extremely well paid. My experience knowing a few of them, and knowing how they are recruited and screened tells me that there is a slim to highly unlikely chance that a harbor pilot would have participated in anything like that.    2) Maintenance of foreign flag ships is well known to be dubious. Especially these days. These were NOT US flag, Jones act sailors. It was (to my understanding) a largely Indian crew on that ship, with a Ukrainian Captain. Indian crews are not exactly known for being stellar.    3) The bunkers (fuel) these ships use is ‘Bunker C’, which is a heavy, dirty fuel oil that can, and usually is, pretty contaminated. This stuff ain’t your car grade gasoline or diesel fuel. It’s nasty.   It requires nearly constant filter changes and maintenance to the engine/generators. The ship took on fuel prior to departing port, which would stir up all kinds of shit in the fuel tanks, which would contribute to particulates in the fuel lines/filters.    4) I’d say the posting of the chief engineer for Maserek above was pretty spot on as far as chain of events.    This was a shitty accident, with horrible timing and outcome. Not a terror attack.
    • I saw Lara's interview on Bannon's War Room, and that gave me pause for thought. Her conjecture depends primarily on the veracity of her sources. Regardless, if it's not applicable in any way to this ship disaster, the methods described seem valid to me. And worthy of consideration for the future. As I said before, IMO something is coming.
