Verizon wireless free data upgrade

Not sure if this is a know hing but I saw it on another forum. I believe it is for family share plans

 

I was paying for 6gb of data. I called up and told them I wanted the free upgrade to ten gb for the same price and she did it

 

I am assuming if you now have 4 GB it would go to 6 or 8 gb.

 

Post back your results. This is big for me because near the end of the month we are always close to 6 GB

It was just a post like this. No specific numbers. I just called *611 and told the operator and she said yes I can do that for you. No questions asked

Just called up and got it.  Had the family share 6GB for $80 plan and swapped it out for the 10 GB for $80.  Since our cycle just started on 10/29 they back dated it and the change will show up on next months bill as a credit for the old plan and a charge for the new, which being the same will balance out to the same monthly price.

I was on unlimited data, but i picked up the new Droid turbo 2 days ago... the verizon store guy said normally they swtich from unlimited family data to 3gb per phone, but it said something was going on right now that allowed him to up it to 6gb... no complaints here!

Most people don't use near that much data. I have AT&T. I saved $40 a month by getting family share. Unlimited text and talk. 2 gigs of data. I have not come close to using anywhere near that much between the wife and I. I'm the power user that would need it.

I made this decision after asking them to analyze my account. Even when I was away for 2 weeks and still never reached limits. 1 week I was in a wifi home. 2nd week, had no wifi. I know mine is not Verizon, but data is data. If you have family share, have them analyze your whole account. Find out where you use most your data. You may actually find you can downgrade your data account and save money. Also, if you are AT&T, there are fan discounts in services. For example, if you are a Harley Member, you save 18% off some services on your bill. Belong to something or work for a specific company? Ask if you get any discounts.

I still have the unlimited data since im now off contract for a few years. I just buy my phones from friends or online and keep the unlimited. Normally use 10gb to 20gb. At 10gb with 12 days left in the cycle... I have a few friends on the family plans ill pass this onto!

Thank you Tom-NJSAS - it worked online.  I went online and did a "change plan".  I was actually paying $90 for 8 GB family share.  Now I am onoy paying $80 for a 10 GB Family plan.  Thank you so much for sharing this information!!!!!

May not be labeled as "Free Upgrade" I think they just changed their price structure but are not telling anyone who is paying more or the same price for less data. 

 

In  my situation, I was paying $90 for a 8 GB family share plan.  Now they offer a 10 GB for $80.  That's 2 more GB for $10 less than what I was paying.  I simply "changed" my plan, that's how I got the "free" upgrade.

As a matter of fact I just realized last month I was paying for 2G and overpaying. I just lowered mine to 1G

My phone is essentially my internet connection while I'm at work. I work at an institution with a very restrictive Internet policy and the bandwidth is unbearably slow as well. My phone is in wireless hotspot mode all day while I do my internet stuff on my laptop. Watch a few YouTube videos each day and you can be easily hitting several gigs a month.

 

I routinely go through 5 gigs a month and sometimes am sweating it close to 6 gigs near the end of the billing cycle. Bumping up to 10 gigs is a big deal for me, thanks for sharing Tom!

I found this on a pop up camper forum I belong to. I'll pass on the thanks. Lol. This is good for me because I too was coming close to the 6 GB a month mostly because my wife didn't realize when she would give the kids her phone in the car to watch stuff there was no wifi!

Just did a Verizon rep chat session, they would not give me a complimentary upgrade from 6GB to 10GB.

 

I'm not on a family plan, and I get an employer discount on the access portion of my plan so maybe those are factors.

Btw, Verizon won't tell you, but if you are NOT on contract and have smartphones with 10G family plan, you can get 25 off on EACH line which is $40 otherwise.

All you guys who are on wifi often or at hotspots. You guys do know to set your apps to point to wifi first and not cellular.

 

Again. I can't see how you all are pulling so much CELLULAR data. Not data, but cellular data.

 

I mean are you watching YouTube vidoes in your car? If you are at home or work point that shit to wifi.

 

Do you guys known how to audit your devices to know what apps are pulling the most data? Just set those to wifi only. I'm still flabbergasted at how much cellular you guys pull.
