Purchasing firearms from a estate question

Recommended Posts

Hey as the topic stated. A friend of mine might be able to buy a few long guns from his friend. They were his fathers so he doesn't technically own them. Or does he? How would he go about this legally? Anyone have any ideas?

BMWR12 has the correct answer. The owner, executor, spouse, etc does not need a fid to sell a gun in NJ.

GRIZ and BMWR12 are correct.  You can go to the State's web site and download the Certificate of Eligibility you'll need for the legal transfer.  NO FFL is required.  Buyer needs photo ID and NJFID.  Make two forms, buyer keeps one and seller keeps one.

Hand guns require a P2P and that has (4) copies, (2) of which need mailed to the authorities.
