kingsey 0 Posted December 16, 2014 Hey guys, Just waiting for my permit. Looking to get my first all metal handgun. I know they are different but curious if anyone has the Smith in south jersey. I'd love to shoot one before I buy. I've wanted a 1911 for a long time, thinking about the colt Xse government. So colt xse or sw 627 pc?
Bt Doctur 188 Posted December 16, 2014 I`d go for the 1911, you can still get 15Rd mags for it. 6 rnds vs 8 rnds, faster reload , slimmer, more comfortable carry around the house
kingsey 0 Posted December 16, 2014 The 627 holds the same 8 rounds.
illy 1 Posted December 16, 2014 The 627 holds the same 8 rounds.Well, to be precise, it holds 8 much better rounds.
Bully 749 Posted December 16, 2014 I love me some revos. However, I would go for the 1911. I brought my 9mm revolver and my 9mm 1911 to the range yesterday. The 1911 is just stoopid accurate. It makes me look like a hero. Good luck with whatever you decide. C
remixer 1,645 Posted December 16, 2014 They really are completely different. I love Smith Revolvers. What length were you thinking?

fishnut 2,358 Posted December 16, 2014 Wheel guns are cool but 1911s are cooler

mustang69 503 Posted December 16, 2014 I guess one way to answer the question is with another question - what is your first gun? If revo get 1911, if not get the revo. My $.

kingsey 0 Posted December 17, 2014 I have a glock 19. As far as the length on the revolver it's the performance center model. 8 shots of 357 mag, smooth cylinder, 2.65 length barrel.
vjf915 456 Posted December 17, 2014 1911, hands down. However, it's your money.
alec.mc 180 Posted December 17, 2014 8 shots of 357 mag, smooth cylinder, 2.65 length barrel. while a snub nose N-Frame is a pretty bad ass gun, as your *first* revolver - I'd recommend a 4 or 5 inch 627, it'll be more pleasurable to shoot and more "practical" here in NJ as far as CCW laws go. diamondd817 823 Posted December 17, 2014 Better solution. Get 3 permits an add a Beretta M9 to the lineup.

I'd opt for a full size 1911 first. Only problem is you might get spoiled by that single action trigger. C
Zelig 21 Posted December 25, 2014 627-5 PC is a great all around handgun. 8 round capacity has a "surprise factor" for a revolver if the other guy is counting (same capacity as a 1911), 357 or 38 special. 5 inch barrel and performance center action is phenomenal. It is great for targets and home defense. Revolvers also don't jam, stovepipe or FTE. I love mine!!!
BlueLineFish 615 Posted December 25, 2014 You need both. Get whichever you get a better deal on first. I just got a 627pc. Pretty sick gun. I got one after i got a trr8. After you get one 1911 you will want others so it doesnt really matter
remixer 1,645 Posted December 25, 2014 Just got this in if interested Smith and Wesson 627 Performance Center
