Turboprop21 12 Posted January 7, 2015 Being that I posted in a NJ forum let's go with New Jersey. Also Union County, thanks
blksheep 466 Posted January 7, 2015 I know nothing of the north jersey springfield you speak of. Sorry bro.
beachwhistle 28 Posted January 7, 2015 Can't say much about their local permit process but the Union County police shooting range is in Springfield and I believe is open to public on Sunday afternoons.
Turboprop21 12 Posted January 7, 2015 Excellent, thank you. I'm dreading the FID transfer process
DirtyDigz 1,793 Posted January 7, 2015 Reminder - when you go to apply for your new FID - "I can't find my current FID". Don't surrender your current FID if they ask for it.
carl_g 568 Posted January 8, 2015 If you can be as close to short hills as possible... it's nice and you can walk to the sh train station. I lived in that area for 10 years.
EWC88 24 Posted January 8, 2015 No help here but I have a question that's somewhat off topic. Noticed you said your dreading the FID transfer, I might be moving this summer, sadly in NJ still, since my address will be different I have to apply for a whole new FID or can they just change the address? Turboprop21 12 Posted January 8, 2015 You will have to reapply using the same initial process in your new town however this time check off change of address on the top of the form. As mentioned by another member don't relinquish your current FID. When I bought my current house it was still in the same town as my previous house however I still had to submit a new forms ST-033 & SP-66. The reference letters also went out as normal. The clerk punched a hole in my FID and said it's no longer valid until the process for my new one was done.
Johnny 0 Posted January 8, 2015 I would look at the neighboring town of Mountainside instead.
Turboprop21 12 Posted January 8, 2015 Any reason in particular?
Johnny 0 Posted January 9, 2015 You will get your permits much faster. I am not sure but I think taxes will be lower too as there is no High School, smaller PD and no Fire Dept. There is a volunteer FD though and Westfield and Springfield would send trucks anyway. Nice town, most people are friendly.
Taipan 0 Posted January 9, 2015 Springfield is a nice town, and is surrounded by other nice towns. Mountainside, Westfield, Cranford, Summit, Millburn. I'm a real estate lawyer in Westfield. Feel free to shoot me a message if you want more details or if you need a referral to a good realtor.
