Scorpio64 5,147 Posted January 15, 2015 I'll second, or third...eh..... fourth? the B&B rout. It can be very romantic by night and as adventurous by day as the two of you wish. New England is great in the fall, lots to do and see but I'm afraid that in Feb it would be miserable. You'd probably spend most of your time indoors, which is fine if that's what you want to do. Personally I'd go south and maybe a little west. With oil prices what they are now, flying can be cheap if you shop around. Have a look at bedandbreakfast dot com. You can search for a B&B based on what your interests are.
Kingsoverqueens 10 Posted January 15, 2015 Just booked a hotel for Presidents Day weekend in Mytrle Beach. Kid is playing in a tournament down there. Flights from AC we $200 bucks. Not too bad. We're gonna drive anyway. Is it warm in SC in the middle of February?

kurtinnj 9 Posted January 15, 2015 5-6 hour drive will put you into Montreal. Gas is cheap. Catch a Habs game. Skate outdoors. Check out underground city. I second this. I used to live there back in the 70's. Beautiful place. If you want you can take the train from NYC.
illy 1 Posted January 15, 2015 Cove Haven is terrible. We hated every minute of it. Round beds are the worst.+
Newtonian 453 Posted January 15, 2015 Our default location has always been Scranton. You can't go wrong with Scranton. Railroad museum. Enough bars and burger places. Alma Mater of my late, great 400-lb Pollack buddy Peter Stopa. If you're not yet married you'll probably get laid about every 3-4 hours vs. every 7-8 months. What's wrong with drinking, eating, and F*****g? Ah have a nice cabin inna woods up their I can rent U. Cant' evne heer a girl screemin from up they're. Beleemee! Hee hee. mipafox 438 Posted January 15, 2015 Our default location has always been Scranton. You can't go wrong with Scranton. Yeah, look at Joe Biden. I don't know, me and everybody I know thinks it's a skell-infested dump. But I really haven't spent much time there. you may get laid every few hours but you'll die of Turbo EbolAIDS before you hit that 7-8 month mark. T Bill 649 Posted January 15, 2015 Scranton for a romantic weekend, please spare me. Wyoming Valley is home to some very good hard working people, but a vacation spot it is not. Either you are winter people, then head to NYS or Vermont for sledding or skiing, or sun worshipers, then head as far south as you can afford.

brucin 923 Posted January 16, 2015 In Burlington I would recommend the Vermont Pub and Brewery if you like good beer. Food is not to bad either.
DeerSlayer 241 Posted January 16, 2015 Also in Burlington, hit Fiddle Head, the pizza place next door is awesome too. And the Shelbourne winery is across the street. Switchback is great, and ya gotta stop at the Magic Hat arti-factory for a tour and tasting.
Newtonian 453 Posted January 16, 2015 Upstate NY? Vermont? Florida? South Carolina? You guys are nuts. Where the air is clean... ...and the girls are corn-fed: Hell you can even drive there. Our family has stopped at this picturesque picnic site many times: Your girlfriend will never forgive stop thanking you.
Duppie 73 Posted January 16, 2015 We head up to "The Great White North" at this time of year..... Montreal is cold but it's a easy drive through some of the most scenic country on the East coast, The restaurants and bars are epic, skiing, tubing and snowmobiling are outstanding and you can cover everything from the Biodome to the Casinos in a long weekend. gleninjersey 2,139 Posted January 16, 2015 Kinda. It’s been bitterly cold here recently....60 this weekend though. Charleston is a great historical city!If you have the time and can find a cheap flight or don't mind the drive then I second Charleston. Beaitiful city, lots of history, plenty of places to dine and it's warmer! If it's too far for a long weekend get away then def get there for a vacation. Stay at Seabrook Island. It's about a 20 min car ride into Charleston and is the 2nd most beautiful place I've visited. The 1st was Hawaii. Seabrook Island is beautiful, secluded, quiet, beach is right there and not built up at all. But the hustle and bustle of downton Charleston is 20 minutes away. http://www.discoverseabrook.com/

alec.mc 180 Posted January 18, 2015 Ok, so we've decided on Burlington. Any other local spots you'd recommend? Hen of the wood , vermont brewing company. There is a good German restaurant in burlington, forget the name. Also , Sonoma station is about a 30 minute drive from burlington, small place to go for dinner, amazing food. DeerSlayer 241 Posted January 18, 2015 There is actually a brewery tour, they will drive you in a van to all the breweries and brew pubs. http://burlingtonbrewtours.com/?gclid=CjwKEAiA0O2lBRDOrPX4oJP3t2oSJACjpaHAfeUtJUtpEUMVkrhcVh-_fA_mr9cneXUeS2qisNoKBxoC1RHw_wcB I did this last July when I was there for the brew fest. It's nice not to have to drive or worry about parking. They give you a brewery passport and you get a stamp at every stop on the card. If you go to the brew fest this summer you can cash in your passport for swag. Make sure you order some poutine someplace while your there. Here's Mrs. "BeerSlayer" eating some, from the Skinny Pancake. Great restaurant! the view of Champlain from the house we rented in Charlotte. (Pronounced Char-lott). at the brew fest more brew fest. vjf915 456 Posted January 19, 2015 Lake George Winter Carnival...every w/e in Feb http://www.lakegeorgewintercarnival.com/ Good recommendation. I went there last year, it was quite fun. Also, if you have a truck (preferably 4x4) you can actually drive on the lake. Last year there was an actual drag strip set up on the lake. They had a drag racing competition during the day, but anyone could drive on it after the races ended. A couple friends and I drove further out onto the lake, about a mile out, and watched the fireworks from a mile out on the lake. We also got some inner tubes from Wal-Mart, and I pulled a couple friends around. It's GREAT fun, just do it at your own risk. (For what it's worth, these are rough numbers. The state of NY requires 10" of ice for a 2 or 3 ton truck, and last year there was about 24" of ice during Winter Carnival.)
