i think who ever Christie endorses will have a very good chance of being elected governor, NJ loves Christie and hates taxes which blows my minds, we all know the second thing behind gun control that the democrats will do is raise taxes

this is not to say Christie will endorse a pro 2a guy, i have a strong feeling Sweeney will get his endorsement

It's gonna be bad. Nj will be compelled to outdo the other states and "lead" the nation on gun laws. That is 100% sure.

I agree. That's scumbag Sweeny's ticket to re-election after re-election as governor. He is going to be the "I'm the toughest guy on guns laws. I keep you safe." candidate,  if we don't stop him from getting elected in the first place.

It will be who can " out democrat" the other democrat will be the winner. Expect Ras Baraka to run

The real problem is the moron libertarians and republicans who "won't vote for a rino"

They are the types that take their ball home if not picked first, if you don't vote republican no matter who the candidate is, or you don't vitd because the person is not your "perfect Ron Paul" candidate... Then you are part of the problem, that third party vote, or not voting is a vote for a dem

Sorry but that is the hard reality. Dem voters pull the handle for dems no matter who the candidates are . In plain fact dems WANT the republican/libertarian split. It guarantees them be in power

Part of the rush of gun laws we've seen were a rush to capitalize on the moment and get face time for the candidates.  The other part, put Christie into a tough spot with the red states or blue states should he run.  Regardless of if Sweeney or Fullop wins, I don't think gun control will be their front running issue until the next tragedy.  That's when we'll get the NJ version of a the SAFE act written, voted and signed off in without time for public discussion.  They'll at minimum go for a 10 round limit but I wouldn't doubt they try for lower regardless of what happened in NY with their 7.  The FID system will be overhauled and we can kiss the lifetime part goodbye.  I think it'll be merged into our DL's as proposed, requiring renewel every 4 years and will probably get suspended whenever our DL does as well.  The 1 evil feature standard for semi-auto shotguns that's part of the State Police proposal will be the standard for rifles as well if they aren't outright banned.  Oh yeah, those evil 50 cals that are such a menace to the world, bye bye.  Lastly, if it's Fullop, expect that nonsense that Jersey City requires for selling firearms to their PD to be extended to all of NJ.

This is of course if we don't get our collective a$$'s in gear and support a candidate that understands that our second amendment right isn't theirs to use a currency to buy media time.

I might get a lot of flak for saying this, especially being an outsider.

Why does it seem that the NRA has been  throwing y'all under the bus. It isn't just the NRA, but what about Gun Owners of America, Second Amendment Foundation and others?  What have these groups done to help protect (or restore) gun rights in NJ?  Gun owners may be a minority in NJ, but there is still a Second Amendment in the U.S. Constitution (even though there isn't a Second Amendment in New Jersey's Constitution). The Second Amendment is still the law of the land.

What has any national gun rights group done for NJ gun owners?

And what exactly should they be doing?

Thanks for bringing up this important subject.

First I think that the majority of USA gun owners don't understand how bad it is here. They're as ignorant of our draconian laws as Sweet L***tta is of the rest of the country's lenient laws. My future son in law, from Alabama, asked me if Shaneen Allen had "just got like a ticket or somethin'"

Yeah, a ticket, my son. All she got was a ticket.

Ignorance goes both ways.

Second thing is a lack of imagination. We keep plugging away at the same old shit that has lost time and time again. God, 2nd Amendment, Natural Law. Grab me a pint of vodka please and a puke bucket.

Third is they have not latched on to a key anti-gun weakness, which is that minorities need guns even -- much -- more than I do. In 25 years of living up here I have not been in or observed a single violent type situation. Not one. In my previous 35 years living in Hoboken, New Haven, even in Long Island I'd been in at least a dozen. And some were quite serious.

I guess you could sum everything up as a lack of "vision."

Hey I just saw the Blessed Virgin in a vision...I need to rack my new acquisition, to envision the vision.

+1

Couldnt be spoken better. NJ in the eyes of the NRA and others is just A cash cow. I belong to the NRA for one reason. I have to in order to maintain my range membership. No extra money goes their way. I have even told the telemarketers that I am in NJ and the NRA dosnt know that NJ is A State. One even apoligized for bothering me.

I think 15 rounds will be history as soon as the next governor gets in. I'm not sure it will be Sweeney. Look for 10, 7 or 5. LEO exempted of course.

Look for FID renewal, probably with a training requirement. Every 2 years is my guess.

OGAM to be tightened probably limit the number of guns per year.

Universal background checks.

.50 ban for sure. Hunting guns and muzzleloaders exempted.

Ammo sales restricted. Probably FID for everything, no online sales, no out of state purchases.

This is only a partial list. I have no doubt they will push it. The dems are completely safe. They love poking us in the eye and sacrificing us at the altar.

I think the big problem here is that there are people who want to fight for their second amendment rights in N.J. but there are other outside issues of these issues that prevent them from staying in the state.  I'll use myself for example.  I live in Hudson County and commute to NYC every day for my job.  However I've been doing the math as of late and I'm getting tired of making money only to have it A.) consumed by high taxes in N.J. for property with minimal to no return for myself. B.) Pay for a police force that does not care to defend my rights or my person (not a cop bashing statement just how I personally feel about peace officers and my personal safety). C.) Paying for person A with poor moral stature and shitty family values having five kids and not being held accountable for their decisions in life.

I'm done with this form of socialism through taxation.  My corporation has offices in most of the states and my position is remote if I want it to be.  Why then would I stay in this state with high taxes, personally does not have my welfare and safety in mind and forces me to pay for the mistakes of others?  New Jersey at its best used to be a state of pride and values however we now have a state that is nothing more than a nanny state which will continue to persist because the people that expect a hand out and receive said hand out won't change their minds to vote for a better future, they love the present and the status quo and frankly are brain washed.

Nothing short of a state revolution will change how things are.  N.J. is heading for a bad time unless there is a moderate for governor in two years.

Sadly you're right. However a depressed housing market will keep the productive ones who own homes in the state.

I think what can change NJ apart from a complete revolution is action on the federal level. Courts or congress, and both are looking like long shots now. So those of us who want to enjoy freedom will have to move.

I swear I am never going to own a home ever again. It keeps you anchored and under the thumb of laws and policies that are detrimental to you.

Once Christie is gone, we gun owners are screwed. With no recognizable Republican candidate out there, plan on JC Mayor Full-Flop as governor.

I'm planning on stocking up on ammo and magazines while I can.

or we can find someone NOW that will be an improvement over him.

My cynical take on it? Because if you make money treating the disease it would not be in your best interests to take action to cure it.

True,

But you cannot help those that won't help themselves.

Ergo"fuck it I'm moving to pa" etc.

I'm pretty excited about the new energy of nj2as
