I've been reading around the site and others and I was hoping someone could clarify on what my best option would be.
I've sold off most of the collection and I'm really just planning on moving over with a compliant lower and then buying a compliant upper once I'm settled in. I'm flying into Newark in the next few weeks and I was thinking I could just check the lower but I'm flying in on a Sunday and staying at a hotel that night before getting the keys to my new place on Monday. It seems like the hotel wouldn't be covered under the exemptions so I'm not sure if this would work.
I thought about shipping it to myself through USPS but I don't think I can do the lower because it falls under "other firearms capable of being concealed on the person" under the USPS rules. UPS & FedEx are out because they only allow FFL to FFL.
Do you think staying at the hotel for one night would cause an issue? If so, would my best bet be to just buy the compliant upper now and ship the entire rifle through USPS to avoid any issues?
Thanks in advance!
Hi guys. I really want to go and begin the process to get an FID and pistol permit especially with whats going on nowadays, but I have some concerns. Particularly, that if I accidentally make an error on the FARS I could be charged. Does it ever happen to people who make mistakes on the FARS application? I would answer everything truthfully of course but we all know how anti-firearms owner NJ is and I'm paranoid that they'll look for some minor mistake and pounce.
Also I'm wondering about the address question on FARS. They want every address lived in the for the past 10 years. Does this only include permanent addresses or stuff like living at a college/grad school? And what about apartments for a year or so that I didn't change my address to?
One more thing…if I were to get a permit would this show up on employment background checks? Because that is one way to get a future job application tossed out.
I have an RIA in .45ACP, double stack which this state run by assholes made into a paperweight! I bought that gun for 15+1 for home defense, I chose not to neuter the mags and have not bothered to buy new mags for it. My sister has all my over 10 round mags until this state reverses that dumb ass law, if ever! My night stand gun is now my single stack SIg Sauer 1911 in .45ACP.
I also have a Dan Wesson PM-9 which is a really pretty and very nice gun. A GSG 1911 for teaching newbies how to handle a 1911 but no kick with a .22. Also have a 10mm which Rosie has used and out-shot me with my own gun!
