ted527 21 Posted February 12, 2015 Don't you have to use a special cleaner on the front load every once in a whole maybe that is why the clothes are smelling. ours is 10 years old and never had any special cleaner run through it. main thing to do with a front loader is to leave the door cracked open when not in use, leaving it closed for a few days will create a funky odor. THIS /\ leaving the door open when not in use is the key ,especially after just finishing a cycle. we had a maytag that made our clothes smell funky, towels particularly. the rubber seal that surrounds the door captures water that does not evaporate with the door closed when not in use causing the seal to get moldy and cruddy.. that is the root of the foul smell. ... and i can't believe this thread is 4pgs...lol

Mine even has a built in secondary magnetic catch that is designed to keep the door open about an inch when not in use. While they make special cleaning chemicals they are not really needed. MY LG has a machine cleaning cycle which they suggest you run once a month - no chemicals needed.
