Want To Borrow - Sight Pusher

Recommended Posts

Going to be swapping out the sights on a couple of pistols and would rather not risk marring the new sights by installing them with a punch in case I want to sell them. Anyone have a sight pusher I can borrow that would work on an M&P? Located in Parsippany.

Thanks!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses. I'll be swapping out the sight on my Shield this week and will reach out when I head out to sight them in. I have a cheap RST rear sight tool but I'm not sure it will work since the M&P sights are known to be difficult to adjust.

I have a JMT also but I don't remember my Shield being particularly hard to adjust. You just have to make sure you have the tiny-ass hex wrench to loosen the set screw before you begin

I know for a fact that I did my full size M&P with only a brass punch.

Hey Guys, thanks for the responses. I was finally able to get the sights removed and installed using a couple of brass punches. Not only were the old sights hard to remove (rear sights harder than the front sights), but then the new REAR sights just did not want to slide in all the way. I ended up lapping/polishing the rear sights on both the M&P9 & Shield and that made them slide in without having to damage them with a brass punch and hammer. They still took some effort but I didn't want to remove too much material from the bottom of the sight otherwise they'd be too loose.

I still haven't sighted them in but when I do, if my cheap rear sight tool doesn't do the job, I may reach out to you to try a different pusher.

Thanks all!

I'm doing this same exact thing -- got the rear off (MAN WAS THAT ON THERE!) but dont want to risk marring it up on the install. I have some of the angled brass punches inbound from brownells but not sure if a sight pusher would do any better than whacks.

What did you use to file down the new sights?

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.
