With that much brass, I would contact a commercial reloader and make a deal!

If you average 1 case every 3 seconds, you could do it yourself in 10 hours!

I have a LOT of brass in .45 and .38. I just deprime a few hundred at a time. I load on a single stage.

What's the point of installing a few decapitated dies in a progressive ? You only need one.

I've got one of these....put a 9mm carbide sizing die in it, and while you're watchin tv or the computer etc...you can be decapping all that brass

I wouldn't deprime 12k cases and stop there, facing the ordeal of then loading 12k rounds.

 

Bite the bullet, so to speak, buy a progressive press, and start loading. At least then with every pull of the handle you are rewarded with a loaded round.

I've done 1M at a time on a progressive press. About an hour and 15 to hour and a half, over 12 days and your done.  Some jobs are better tackled in small batches over time to keep morale up.  Then off to the tumbler.  Sometimes I just keep them in a sealed bucket and pull them out as I need them. They don't eat or drink nothing so just hold on to them.  Cash in hand sort of.

Are they clean or dirty? -- if clean then you can size and deprime at the same time --

 

if dirty and you want to wet tumble then deprime with a decapping die and tumble -- I'll be making tumblers again very soon if interested -- with an 8" drum you could tumble those 18 pounds at a time

 

a case feeder on a progressive press will take some of the pain away but it really isn't necessary -- just get started

I just bought a universal Lee de-capping die and use it for all kinds of brass before tumbling.  keeps you from breaking a more expensive sizing die when decapping crimped primers.  if you break on of those, it is only about $1.50 to replace the decapping pin.

 

 

As an aside, you can also try to resize your old military surplus .30-06 brass with it and you won't have to go the gym anymore!

Just to add --- The Hornady LNL will catch every spent primer you knock out -- all other press I have tried will drop a few...

Agreed doing them all at once would be painful.. do like 1k then clean as needed going forward.

Sell the brass to a commercial reloader - by a reloading set-up and start over. If you don't intend to start reloading, make a deal with a commercial reloader for x number of cases - or x lbs of brass - per box of loaded ammo.
