What happens if currently owned black rifles are reclassified as NJ assault weapons

Recommended Posts

i don't think it would be a waste of money. this state doesn't have the funds to fight a well mounted challenge.....which the nra could do should they be so inclined.

They will spend money they don't have to keep their agenda. Then raise taxes to make you pay for it and tell everybody the reason their taxes are being raised. Just like Atlantic City, they own the game, and they are not there to give away their agenda, we only own the ballot box.

"We only own the ballot box"

This is more or less true.  So how can the NRA help?  By commencing an ad campaign targeted at traditionally conservative voters to get off their asses, whether they are NRA members or not, to get the F out there and vote the rat bastards out.  The "oh poor me, nothing we do will change anything" is a self fulfilling prophecy.  People with that mindset are part of the problem.

If the NRA tells me the money I contribute will go towards defending my rights, then they turn around and spend it all in another state, and then ask for MORE!  what's the point in being a member?  Someone said it was pointless for the NRA to spend a dime in NJ, then why the F are we giving them our support if they are not fulfilling their promise?

The NRA is one of the most powerful lobbies in the nation.  If they set their mind to it, they could make a difference.

The NRA spends money at the national level, where it matters most. This isn't an organization with endless coffers of money like douchebag Bloomberg. They need to pick their spots wisely. Electing pro-gun politicians in middle America and swing states is a much more effective strategy than throwing money at politicians who will lose in liberal states like New Jersey. It is basically politicians from free America that are keeping the rest of the country from having Jersey-style stupidity imposed on them. The NRA will continue to receive my money for that reason. Why would you want to drag the rest of the country down to our level? Misery loves company?

No, misery wants relief.  Relief that the NRA has promised and has not delivered.  How could the NRA going to bat for NJ possibly drag down the rest of the country?  Your argument is weak.  The NRA has fought many many state level battles, not just national, so again, your argument has fallen apart.

The NRA promised to support ALL Americans not just the ones that live in the easy states.  They have not kept that promise.  Try as you may to build an argument for the NRA virtually abandoning the people who need their help the most, it just wont work.

You'll all roll over. You're not exactly Connecticut or New York.

Most of you will get rid of them. Some of you will keep your guns. Some of you will go to prison. All it takes is a car accident or a complaint from a neighbor. Few of the remaining that keep them will take them out of the house. Some will chance it. Might as well carry a concealed handgun from time to time.

I totally get your argument, but think of it in terms of cost effectiveness. Democratic politicians in New Jersey are incumbent, entrenched , and well funded by the limousine liberals most of us disdain, because our state is filled with them. The NRA does not have unlimited funds. Essentially the NRA can spend a ton of money and go for moral victories and elect a few politicians in places like Jersey, Cali and Mass (where the democrats will spend more next election and win back the seats like in Colorado). Or they can spend less per politician in swing and conservative states, and get a lot of politicians elected to prevent bad national legislation like a new AR ban or universal registration. To me that is the greater good, even though it means residents of states like ours get shafted. An NRA funded by every gun owner would be a true juggernaut that could take on anyone. As it stands, the NRA's power isn't its money, it's that it gets members to vote pro-gun. Would you rather New Jersey had a few more pro-gun politicians and the entire country had to deal with background checks? In my opinion that is the choice we are faced with. A shit sandwich either way.

Don't remind me. They'll start pushing for more government permission before owning a gun.

I will give you some extra democratic candidate campaign signs for your lawn when I move in next door B)

I will also be inviting 40 fellow giant's fans over every Sunday to watch the game and act roudy lol...

Try substituting ANJRPC (our NRA affiliate of course) wherever there's an NRA, feel better or worse? I sometimes feel the ANJRPC is more of a business entity than an advocate of the 2A.

there is no money in curing the disease, only in treating the disease.

so........if all of these illegal laws were rescinded tomorrow, tell me? what would nra, anjrcp, and all the others do?

Something very simple, whether it's NRA or even ANJRPC,. They are alerted to our ambitious Recall Sweeney Campaign, they need to stop, think and just for a moment, fooking back us with more campaigns, more of our money, (notice I said our money), and more over all efforts to get this done. Period. The ground work has been laid and not by them. For one fooking minute, back us full bore, get the win, then take the victory nationally and go berserk with it.

This is why I'm hesitant to give them shit. Get Pierre's arse out here and help make a stand for us for once! It's pretty sad we have people outside our state supporting us more than the big boys. The grass-root groups got more balls than almost all the big orgs put together. I recently heard Pierre say that the NRA will do whatever it takes to keep Hillary out of office. Yea, it takes vote but money too. NRA always bragged when Bloomberg was spending his money that the NRA was a collective of donators that could out run his money. So don't say the NRA doesn't have the funds. It's where they spend them that matters and it's not in NJ....

If this ever happened the State would probably offer an amnesty and registration period just like the NJ AWB allowed "assault weapons" to be registered and owned but not resold within the State...

The big question is: would you register them? I would if it meant keeping my toys.

True but odds are the State would win.

NJ gun owners lost the fight in May of 1990 (NJ AWB was passed)...nobody has succeeded in getting that off the books.

You can:

1- Register and keep your black rifles

OR

2- GET OUT OF NJ!

If you chose the second option send us a post card.

What will happen?  Whatever "they" say will happen.  If they think they can get away without offering an amnesty period, they will.  This whole approach to increased gun control is to deflect from the lack of action on everything else wrong in this state.

Once Christie is gone the Dems will need to find something, anything, to draw attention away from what has happened in this state over the last 20 years, and how bad, IMO, this state will be until something dramatic changes.  The next mass shooting, as terrible as it will be, becomes a rally point for them to proclaim how much is being done to improve lives in this state, all the while nothing actually improves.  I've become far too cynical with NJ politics to believe the push for more gun control is anything but deflection since there is so much evidence to the contrary.

Gun control is people control, period.   The big-government, socialist, statist, crony-capitalistic, Marxist, collectivist, liberal, progressives and their RINO friends want to control every aspect of the lives of the ruled class.  Since they have no intention of stopping their anti-freedom, anti-personal property campaigns, they NEED to disarm an increasingly alarmed citizenry.  Yes, they may use this to deflect from other things, but they are also using it to advance their agenda.  Yes, it may be a rally point, but it is more than that.  It is an assault politician attack on our society, values and freedoms.

Ha! has anyone/group been able to reverse ANY anti-gun law in NJ? never gonna hapen here, not with the states logic that even tho a law may be "wrong" if its been around so long as to be common practice than its ok and normal.

Only after the inevitable first wave of anti-gun legislation is signed by Gov. Sweeney early in 2018 will you guys realize the opportunity you lost in Fall, 2015 to do something sensible and achievable. Once a democrat ascends to the throne get-out-the-vote will still work, but our new governor will not sign anything resembling reform legislation.

That won't matter much when they throw you into the truck and take you to the re-education camps. Look up "Jade Helm".
