NRA instructor courses (Salem county)

Recommended Posts

We are in the process of setting up this summer instructor courses. They will be at the Salem county sportsman's club. I'll be opening it up to this forum after club members get first dibs. We usual have a few open spots. Each class is 2 days and includes lunch. Someone taking all disciplines beats out a single class.

Classes for this year-

June 27-28 Shotgun

Aug 29-30 Rifle

Sept 19-20 pistol

Oct 24-25 Chief RSO

Prerequisites?

Unless something has changed: you need to take BIT - Basic Instructor Training. It's an NRA class that takes a few hours and goes over the way the NRA wants things done.

Don't be an idiot

Nice.  You've convinced me not to attend.

Thank you.

BIT has to be taken separately, and it has its own exam. It's a one time only thing, good for all firearm disciplines. Instructor candidates need to pass this.

For each discipline (eg pistol, rifle or shotgun), there is a separate competency (gun handling safety and shooting) prerequisite. Passing this is the gateway to being able to take the discipline part, each of which had its own exam.

No Shortcuts, being an NRA Certified Instructor is a Serious Deal. You are being certified as able to verify that every one of your clients meets the standard.

For Chief RSO, one must have taken and passed RSO and BIT

Good luck!
