Ex-boyfriend sought in woman's slaying while waiting for permit!

Ready for Christy's line of BS! He's now pretending to be pro2a all of a sudden in NH. But blames the NJ legislators for their laws.

If he tries to pretend to be pro2a all you have to do is read this article and look at the pic.

I'll believe he's changed his stance and beliefs when he helps remove the Justifiable Need clause and NJ becomes a will issue state.  It's not enough to block more bad laws from coming.  He has done nothing to remove the bad laws that have remained on the books under his leadership.

Here's a slightly better version:

Also this fast tracking the domestic violence victims. They are addressing the smaller percentage of people yet again. They are gonna help the domestic but not the violence. Would your wife or you be less dead if killed by a home invader rather then an ex? No. But by doing this they can claim they are helping

And since it's in our home, you're already covered by existing law.  You're still screwed if you're out of your house / off your property, like in your driveway coming home at night.  Nothing will change.

off your property yes. out of your house no. apparently, she could not safely retreat, as he stabbed the shit outta her. she'd have been legally within the limits set to shoot him.

He has helped individual gun owners and hasn't passed more laws. You can argue he hasn't helped but also hasn't hurt.

A failure to help ...hurts.  He's the guy.  He's done nothing to address the issue of fixing our problems.  It's my personal point of view, but he has hurt by his inaction.

Exactly!  Many people believe it's in his power to remove "justifiable need."

And hasn't it been said dozens of times on these very message boards that all Christy has to do is direct the NJSP and AG to revise the administrative code for justifiable need and that would basicly make our "may issue" state a "shall issue" state. We need to get that little known fact out to the masses and make sure doesn't have a shot at moving south in 2017. He is no friend to gun owners. Those pardons, while deserved, are just political strategy. They should never have been charged with a crime in the first place. This woe is me, my legislators have my hands tied crap is just that, crap.

I just spoke with Dan Roberts.  He's got a BIG story he's working on to blow-open the whole NJFPID Card process, which directly ties-in to the Berlin PD situation and the death of Carol Bowne.  Jack Pyle from CNJFO has identified the "how" and what needs to be said/written for an Executive Order to define Justifiable Need as "a strong desire to be able to defend oneself or family member or member of the public WITHOUT the need to first prove a specific or any other verifiable threat".  This will in effect change NJ from a "May Issue" state to a "Shall Issue" state.  The question is will Christie give us what we're looking for?  The Coalition of NJ Firearms Owners is with Mr. Roberts 100%, and supports all efforts by Albert Almeida, Ron Soussa and all other Patriots entering this battle.

Keep up the pressure!  Call and/or write the Governor (via snail mail if possible) so they know in Trenton that we will be heard!  1-609-292-6000

QUESTION. assume christy bumps his head, and sees the light. he directs the ag, and the spd to go ahead and remove justifiable need, and also truly make issuing permits within the timeframe according to the statute.

what happens when he's out in 2017?

But..... they aren't even addressing the smaller percentage of people.......... It just means they get done first.  So if a town takes 3 to 5 months to complete the process... the restraining order people get theirs in 3 months.

Still unacceptable.

So.. they can claim anything they want.  But they aren't doing shit to help anyone.

They need to comply with the law and be forcefully told that their efforts are useless and a load of PR crap.

Fingers Crossed.  Thanks for the update, Rosie.

Follow-up:

There will be a gathering of Protesters this Friday at Loretta Weinberg's house in Teaneck.  Albert is coordinating the signs manufacturing.  Alexander from NJ2AS is coordinating the man/woman power.  NJ 2-A Groups are UNIFIED at ending "Justifiable Need"!  Our Governor mentioned the protest at Sweeney's house while visiting New Hampshire, so it AND US are definitely on his radar screen!

It gets undone. Unless a 2A republican extends it.

EO's exist as long as the E that ordered them.

But,,, in my opinion.. he won't do it.  Ever.

Why not?

Because he BELIEVES that's changing the law is an issue for the legislative branch of the state to decide.  Just as he didn't appoint an R to replace Lautenberg's corpse.  He called a special election and let Cory Booker iirc get the spot, rather than at least have an R there for a short time and possible build name recognition and then hav a shot at winning a regular election.

It's time for the Keyboard Commandos to spend gas and time and hoist a SIGN!

Once the Legislators see Sweeney unseated, they'll be too shit-scared to NOT extend a common-sense measure that protects lives!  In fact, we may get some Republican friends to propose bills to make it LAW before the EO expires.......BABY STEPS will win the race!

They are politicians. They just have to claim they are helping people. Not really helping. The gun grabbers will call this a compromise. Then expect the republicans to roll over on the domestic gun grab bill

Dave, will this story only be publish on ammoland.com?  If it is, then he should try to get it distributed more broadly.  I have no idea how that works, but maybe he does.  Fox is always late to the party on these stories.  You see it there a week after we've been talking about it.  Maybe they could be pushed a bit.  I didn't walk that way so no chance to bug anyone who happened to be outside.  I had to go get a big needle stuck in my knee.  But he may have a more appropriate channel to contact someone there and maybe be a guest on one of their shows.  Just a thought.

Fox finally picked up the story.

'No one helped her': NJ woman murdered by ex while awaiting gun permit

Carol Bowne knew her best shot at defending herself from a violent ex was a gun, and not a piece of paper. And it was paperwork that left her unprotected when Michael Eitel showed up at her New Jersey home last week and stabbed her to death, say Second Amendment advocates, who charge local police routinely sit on firearms applications they are supposed to rule on within 30 days.

Bowne, 39, had a restraining order against Eitel when he killed her in her driveway last Wednesday, but she was still waiting for Berlin Township Police Chief Leonard Check to approve the gun permit she had applied for on April 21. Tragically, she had gone to the township police department just two days before her death to check on the status of her languishing application. In another indication of her fear of Eitel, Bowne had recently installed surveillance cameras around her home, and the equipment recorded the 45-year-old ex-con attacking her as she arrived home and got out of her car.

“She should have been granted that permit in a timely matter, especially given her status as a domestic violence victim,” said Evan Nappen, a New Jersey-based attorney who specializes in Second Amendment cases.

“Carol would have qualified for a permit since she was attacked; only now it’s too late.”

             - Evan Nappen, New Jersey-based attorney and gun rights advocate

New Jersey's gun laws are among the nation's strictest, but law-abiding citizens are eligible to purchase and possess handguns after filling out forms available at their local police stations, submitting to a background check on any possible criminal history or mental health issues, giving fingerprints and paying a fee. Once those steps are taken, local police conduct a 14-point investigation and the chief is supposed to approve or deny for cause within 30 days.

Check did not return requests for comment, but gun rights advocates say it is not unusual for Garden State police chiefs to take several months to approve handgun permits for qualified applicants.

“The gun law’s intention is to be as difficult and cumbersome as possible,” Alexander Roubian, president of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society, told FoxNews.com. “They need to be repealed.

“The system is so outdated," Roubian continued. "In most states, you go to the store, get a background check, and purchase a weapon. A police chief should have no part of the process. This woman had a legitimate issue and no one helped her.”

A manhunt for Eitel, who had done time on a kidnapping conviction and had repeatedly threatened Bowne, began shortly after the murder and ended Saturday, when he was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot in another ex-girlfriend's garage.

Bowne's case prompted state senators Dawn Addiego, Diane Allen and Jennifer Beck to announce plans to introduce a bill that will fast-track the handgun permit process for applicants who have obtained a restraining order.

“The tragic murder of Carol Bowne shows that there are sensible changes we should make to public safety laws to help people protect themselves,” said Addiego, a Republican whose district is in southern New Jersey. “This legislation will make sure that those who need protection the most are given priority when it comes to the lengthy process of applying for a firearms permit.”

However, Nappen said even if Bowne had obtained her permit and used a gun to protect herself, she could theoretically be facing charges today because she would not have been allowed to legally carry the gun outside with her.

“New Jersey does not allow law-abiding citizens to get a carry license,” Nappen said.

2 things.

1) did he shoot or hang himself? they changed that part in this article.

2) this is probably only locally on fox. it needs to go national.

1)  Reports that I read, heard ans watched all said he hung himself in an ex-girlfriend's garage.

2)  I've only seen online national coverage.

Be careful how this is approached. He/they may say, ok. But only for restraining order victims or one's whose life has been threatened.
