revenger 472 Posted November 19, 2015 Anyone have advice on decent .45acp mags. 7rd. I have noticed that several of mine no longer function properly, The follower does not seem to engage the slide stop properly. My mags are about 30 years old and are of the OEM type. robot_hell 72 Posted November 19, 2015 Chip McCormick seconded. I have the shooting star 8 rounders and find them to be completely reliable.
Rob0115 1,105 Posted November 19, 2015 I use Wilson combat in .45 and 9mm. Excellent.
BullzeyeNJ 104 Posted November 19, 2015 Wilson, Cobra Tripp, and Chip McCormick are all excellent magazines. Wilsons will be the most expensive and the CMCs the cheapest. The Wilsons and Cobras are a little smoother b/c of their polymer followers but all of them are reliable.

SLOPE5623 5 Posted November 20, 2015 Wilson Combat
ColtPistols 0 Posted November 20, 2015 I haven't had any problems with Colt marked, Metalforms (several different models), GI type marked Colt .45 Auto (but I don't think they're made by Colt, a bunch of Chip McCormicks and a few others. My Wilson's however don't lock open the slide on the last shot in any of my pistols. Not sure why, maybe just a bad batch or maybe they're worn out. None seem to cause any feeding issues though. If I was looking for decent 7 round mags I would just buy cheap GI types, if they function well in your firearms buy a few more and stock up. It's really only the 8 rounders that seem like certain ones won't feed right.
njitmetal 2 Posted November 25, 2015 OEM sprinfields (often on sale at Midway) are good. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1762174459/springfield-armory-magazine-1911-government-commander-45-acp
The brew guy 22 Posted November 25, 2015 I've got a bunch of Springfields, 7 rounders in both blue and SS and no problems with any of 'em. I've also got a couple Colt (7 rd) and a few CMC (8 rd) and they've also had no problems. Other than the followers and the Colt logo stamped in them, they appear identical. OTOH, I have a Springfield 10 round SS that has been nothing but trouble. I can't recommend that one.
NickySantoro 211 Posted November 27, 2015 Wilson 47s have been 100% for me. So have the inexpensive Mec-Gars. Unless the mag bodies are damaged, you might be able to rejuvenate your existing mags with some new Wolff springs.
