How can we bring more members to our forum?

Recommended Posts

I think we need a way to recruit more members to this forum. I have been a firearms owner in NJ for about 5 years but only when I recently spoke to louu at the gun range did I find out about this forum. there has to be a way to get the word out about us and our community. How many members do we currently have in correlation to gun owners in NJ? Could we have something given to each new gun owner in NJ upon purchase? Can we distribute something that informs new and current owners to direct them to our forum? Not a flier people throw them away but something tangible that people will use? I like the idea of Njgf targets but the only way to obtain them would be to download them here. I would gladly donate to help fund production of those to give away free at each range. Are there any ranges who give discounts to members of njgf? I know it's cheesy but who else remembers those yellow "I buy old houses" signs about 15 yrs ago? Who knows if they still buy old houses but I still remember the signs . Maybe a njgf sign? Hell I'll put a njgf sign on my lawn. Let's put our heads together to drum up more active members and then we might have a chance to change the anti gun climate in our state. Maybe it's already in the works and I just don't know about it. But I'm sure we could somehow get more members

Look how many permits were issued in this article

And

12% own guns here stated here in this article who knows how accurate it is but 8.4 million people live in NJ 12 %is about 1 million people

The potential to network with a lot more than 6500 of us here in NJ is there, we just gotta get them to come visit njgf somehow

People active in firearms ownership tend to stop in local gun shops. A counter stand like NJ2AS places might be a way to introduce the forums to anyone who doesn't know about it.

That costs some money.

Links on other sites would probably help.   A link/reference in American Rifleman or on the NRA website would also help.  So long as they don't mind that we think they flushed NJ down the toilet a long time ago.

I found it when I searched for transport laws in NJ.

A good place to start might be the vendors on the forum. I think most would be willing to print out a well designed flyer (I'm sure many would be willing to supply the time, paper and toner need to print out a few dozen copies) and put it on the counter. They could even throw one in the bag with each purchase. There are already a few sheets of paper that they have to include with each firearm sold and the flyer for the forum would probably be of more interest than any of the state mandated ones. Sure, there are those that throw out all that crap without reading any of it, but I bet we'd pick up a few members.

There are nowhere near 6500 people here. 6500 people/bots have registered since the site started, and I would guess most of them are not only not here today, but probably posted once or never.

I just counted 2400 registered users that have never posted.

In order for our government to take us seriously we need to increase our numbers right? As I said before I am willing to donate $ or my time to help. Very good point with contacting our vendors and see if they are willing to put out some type of informational handout. Also your right if we all get 1 friend to join it doubles our member count. If we can't increase our numbers here then say goodbye to ever making a difference in NJ. I'll have to find the target someone made on here and link it I'm fine with leaving a small stack at each range table when I go.

Does anyone know who runs our forum? We could try to set up a go fund me account and see if it goes anywhere

We had shirts for awhile.

Thing is, advertising costs money. Sponsors probably won't willy nilly advertise for here when they're paying to advertise on here.

Also, as I said in the 2A section, we need to be of a high esteem if all of the public sees us. No mountain lions, Muslim paranoia, etc.

I agree with you the reason I want the state to backoff is so I can protect myself and my family from ALL threats in and outside of my home. Not to mention that it's in our Constitution as our right to do so! I would also like the public to be comfortable with law abiding mentally stable individuals carrying a legal firearm. Do you have a pic of the t shirt? Was there an increase in members after they were sold/issued?

My response is.... they make all sorts of firearms out there go get the one you like. Or do what I do and buy every one you like. It's simple. Now to get back on topic we need more people to join our forum. What Avenue can we go to be most productive?

Why are you trying to do membership drive/booster?

I'm trying to boost membership because there are a lot of good causes here that don't get the support that we need to make a difference. Firearm owners in NJ should stay networked and well informed so we could possibly change the tide that is currently trying to force us to be defenseless. For instance only a matter of time they are gonna try to push the ridiculous 10 round mag limit again. Also I have met some really good people on here and learned a lot from them. Would like to pass it on!

Most of the active groups don't really participate here, to many do nothing backseat driver types

I think a large portion of the gun owners are Fudd's who don't care what laws are passed as long as they don't screw with the bolt guns or shotguns.

Agree

Would like to add ill informed.

I've learned a lot here. You have any idea how many people think hollow points are illegal to possess, yet, I purchase them at bj dicks.

I'll add lazy also, or beaten and broken

Get a list of all the FID card holders in NJ from the NJSP. Send out letters/flyers.

If the NJSP gives out that list on request, we've got much bigger problems than just the lack of forum members.

I wouldn't want this to be a huge forum. I can't keep up with the really big ones, there are just too many posts. Also, Shawn, I am active on a number of forums and the vast majority of members and posts are very polite and informative. I don't think that there are too many people that signed up as members and got chased out by harsh posts. Try reading some njhunter posts.

You want new members? Maybe constantly attacking the people that come on here is the reason most leave

Keep this BS in the 1A Lounge.....

If it comes into the main forum...... I will deal with it.....

This will be your one and only warning....

    • This market makes no sense, even before the recent volatility. Up is down, left is right, black is white, dogs are cats. I follow the market and the business news every day, and it's totally nuts. It makes my head hurt. Since there apparently isn't going to be any additional "injections" by Uncle Sugar, which kept the market propped up the past two years, the sugar high has burned off.... you know what happens after that....
    • This is a brand new, never used or installed set of high-quality  Wood AK stocks for Milled receivers finished in Ishmash Red. It is not refinished wood.  In addition to 7.62  it will also fit milled receivers for 5.56AK.  It is not designed for stamped receivers. It comes with new screws that you will use, if you are upgrading for a polymer-type stock set, do not use those screws.  It is fabricated to the look of  Soviet classic wood furniture circa 1960's and designed to fit milled receivers. It will fit older as well as new milled receivers, for example,  it will fit any Arsenal Style Milled receiver. It is possible that very minor fitting with a file may be required depending on your receiver. Note: Finish on all stock pieces absolutely matches. Due to lighting and camera angle it may not appear so in every picture, but they match. Free Ship. $375 First I will take it and also PM me wins Zelle, Money Order of Check Steve

    • Defense Distributed at it again. You have another opportunity to build your own. Enter the Ghost Gunner 3 The Ghost Gunner 3 is a 3 Axis CNC machine that can take a metal block and create a lower receiver in a relatively short period. You can then assemble that lower into a completed firearm without it being registered.  Since the only part needed to create these homemade firearms is a block of metal (pictured below), it would be entirely impossible for the ATF to regulate these without an act of congress.  While the anti-gun politicians pat themselves on the back for "stopping the proliferation of privately made firearms," Defense Distributed was hard at work crafting a tool that empowers citizens to expand their 2nd amendment rights and makes regulation irrelevant.  I was ecstatic to see the Ghost Gunner 3 here at SHOT Show in Las Vegas this week, and I'm excited to see what Defense Distributed does next.  https://www.zerohedge.com/political/impossible-regulate-ghost-gunner-introduces-new-0-receiver
