Obama to tighten gun laws by E.O. on Monday!

Recommended Posts

In my opinion it comes from a Republican congress that will not do what it should ultimately do when a president is way out of line: stop funding the presidential violations.

And that means doing the funding job for real; 8 to 10 funding bills that deal with specific government segments, not one giant omnibus that will 'shut down the government if we don't pass it'.

But hey, the last federal election really didn't matter at all. It appears that at the federal level the 'Republican' party as an opposition party is mostly a fiction. As far as I can see.

True, they do need to get back to funding the govt by Constitutional means, but, from what I've heard, Congress still needs to appropriate money for these actions to occur and it has been said that they won't. We shall see.

It has also been said that departments can't even move money from one project to another without approval from the House. We shall see.

PM me if you want some 1960's Kleenex I rescued from my mother's house.

I used a whole box on Tuesday.

Republican, democrat , black, white,etc.

Put American first! Admit your wrong!

Gays can be miserable in marriage, people make more on aid than min wage. Americans used to wash dishes and mow lawns.

Meanwhile while the spin continues Obama is doing a CNN special tonight on guns tonight with Anderson Cooper. The NRA was invited but declined.

NRA turns down offer to be a part of “spectacle” in CNN town hall on guns

CNN is slathering themselves in the hype over tonight's "town hall". Sick.

Just to put tonight's CNN town hall in context, and understand why the NRA said 'Nah!', read this article. More plants than in my wife's arboretum.

CNN always gets a boost in ratings whenever they start to talk about guns, hence that whole multi-week thing with Pierce Morgan after Sandy Hook.

I have my DVR set.  I'm going to need to go home and start drinking heavily to get ready.

I can't post the image here, and I'm not going to waste time setting up an image storage account elsewhere just so I can link to it here...so I'll just direct you all to this page:

http://www.trapshooters.com/threads/batfe-facebook-page.260472/

The BATFE set up a Facebook page to "help the public understand when an FFL is required"

A BATFE employee monitored the site, ready to answer questions.   The employee was none too pleased to see the following question pop up:

"Say I am a federal agency, and I sell a bunch of guns to Mexican cartels.   Do I need a federal firearms license?"

I'm surprised BATF did not pull the whole site down, it is a real dog pile there.

'American Sniper' widow: Gun control won't protect us

http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/07/opinions/taya-kyle-gun-control/index.html

Thanx for that post! Excellent statement that I wouldn't have read, because I wouldn't voluntarily go to CNN.

I'll be passing that one on.

An ATF agent Becky Solic responded to the comment and told him to leave the page... Her account is gone now! Facebook lit that bitch up! I've been finding that just as many people on social media are sick of this crap as are pushing for it.

Please tell me if you believe I'm missing something, but the more I think about it, the more I think these EO's were good for our side.  They give the antis the illusion that Obama is doing something, but they really do not amount to anything.  It's just a clarification of the laws regarding who needs to have an FFL to sell guns, while avoiding "universal background checks" that would require them for transfers among family and friends, or people who sell

an occasional firearm.

There is a good article about this:

New ATF guidance on gun sales is legally meaningless (or else it would be unlawful)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2016/01/05/new-atf-guidance-on-gun-sales-is-legally-meaningless-or-else-it-would-be-unlawful/

Apparently, the author of that article had the same thought that I did:

:

"A third potential reason for issuing a guidance of this sort is political: to respond to the political demand for action. Issuing a guidance document with substantial fanfare is a way to create the impression of action and satisfy relevant constituencies. To the typical, rationally ignorant voter, it may appear that the administration is doing something significant. (And insofar as Republicans complain and caterwaul about the administration’s actions, this purpose is more fully achieved.)"
