Awesome development on Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee

Recommended Posts

Michael Patrick Carroll is now on the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee!  In case you haven't been to Trenton to testify, this is the venue for originating anti-firearms rights legislation.

Good news, but won't change anything, IMO.

Exactly. Mike's a great ally, but he's outnumbered.

And anyway... "You can't reason people out of a position they didn't reason themselves into".

Mike is a gun owner and reenactor.  I wish him God Speed in his new committee appointment.  CNJFO looks forward to working with Mike in any way we can.

Agreed.  He will passionately and eloquently express the conservative opinion on whatever issues are before before the committee, then whatever liberal measure is being proposed (e.g. five round mag limits) will be approved along party lines.

That's more than we had before.

Good deal. Could have been worse with another anti in there.

I agree, one step at a time is better than two steps back.

Mr. Carroll is my representative in the assembly and I have had E-mail correspondence with him. He writing is quite humorous. He is super pro firearms and has sponsored several bills to fix NJ's draconian firearms laws. Having him on the committee is a positive and even though he is outnumbered, firearms owners can count on him being in their corner.

Two years ago I sent pro-2nd amendment emails to the entire legislature. Mr Carroll was one of a handful of legislators that sent me a reply and I am not even in his district. Seems like a good guy.

I tried to trick him with a faux impassioned case for slightly more gun control and when I got his response I realized he was the real deal. Then I apologized to him and explained why I was trying to test him.

Also good to see Charles Mainor is now gone. What is Daniel Benson like?

I went to high school with his son, Uber Democrat's. So Uber anti-gun. I'm also basing that on how happy his son was about the everyone can marry everyone SC ruling

Am I the only one seeing things incrementally change for the better here?

Baby steps grumpy old men. Baby steps.

Took years to get it this bad, will take years to correct it.

Zeke-

True. But I do not have 35 years left to wait for it to be corrected either.

That is great news! He probably wont be able to stop antigun bills, but the antigunners will have a good fight put up against them.

I also want to point out that my representative Erik Peterson remains on the committee. I wrote to him a few times when antigun bills were being voted on and he didn't disappoint.
