Zeke 5,504 Posted March 20, 2016 Another article I never thought I'd read on Nj.com http://www.nj.com/hunterdon/index.ssf/2016/03/watch_i_shot_a_gun_for_the_first_time_and_i_liked.html#incart_river_mobile_home First time shooters positive experience. Rob0115 1,105 Posted March 20, 2016 I read it this morning good job by the author.
NJGF 375 Posted March 20, 2016 Actually pretty amazing.
voyager9 3,434 Posted March 20, 2016 I read that this morning. Overall a progun and it seems a positive experience for the author. Someone should invite her to a class while it is fresh in her memory. I did think some of the wording around the rental was meant to evoke a knee jerk response (no background check, didn't mention that the rental is just for use at the range, etc). It was also early in the article so it does show how her outlook changed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Scorpio64 5,147 Posted March 20, 2016 If you thoroughly examine the substance of the article and the video, in the end, she says guns are great for a fun sport but owning one is unnecessary and she will never buy one. Compared to the way guns and gun owners are usually depicted in NJ, the article was stellar but the bar is so low here in NJ that seeing anything remotely pro 2A is shocking.
ReadDude 0 Posted March 21, 2016 Hey the smile on her face in the lead photo is enough to call it a pro-gun article. Anytime we get press that shows the positive angles of gun ownership and sport i'll take it. maybe next time she'll be even more comfortable.... siderman 1,137 Posted March 21, 2016 I suppose its a positive article but to me its only the author going on a thrill ride, kinda like one of us doing a rent-a-race-car ride or jumping out of a plane. It does nothing as far as promoting gun rights, revealing the oppressive act of getting a FPID etc, I doubt she'll be taking her experience any further than this. weekend_junkie 129 Posted March 22, 2016 Not everyone is going to like firearms, but this lady gave it a try and helped shed some of the stigma. I say good for her! I also saw this article imbedded in the page. It lays out a few facts and doesn't seem to lean on any editorial opinions for closure. Not so bad. http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2016/01/things_to_know_about_nj_gun_laws.html#incart_article_small
The brew guy 22 Posted March 22, 2016 I had never shot — or even held — a real firearm. Nerf, BB guns and plastic guns attached arcade games don't count. Think we should tell her about BB guns in NJ?
Soup76 4 Posted March 23, 2016 I found the article to be mostly flash, and little substance. However, the fact that NJ.com put a picture of her smiling and the non-hostile headline...I count it as a win.
