Hello All,

Recently Got my FID! I have been window licking for the last 5 months. I have my heart set on the Scar 16s. Cant afford a 17s. My question is to any scar owner or someone who knows. What modifications needed to be done for NJ AWB compliance? also where did you get the modifications done?

      Thanks,

            Mike

:triniti: P.S Unrelated Scar comments are welcome!  :vinsent:

Franklin lakes area... willing to drive anywhere in the state though

Get Mike from Tier One Defense to do it. He did mine and a friends 17S  and we are both very happy with his work. He is about a 40 min drive from Franklin Lakes. Also, if you need mags that have a higher capacity then 15 rounds permanently blocked then he is the guy to do it also. I had my 17s with five 20 round mags sent directly to his shop from the company I bought it from in Texas.  Since he is an FFL dealer I  did the transfer through him. Really easy and fast.

My friend had him install the aftermarket Giesselle two stage trigger too. I put mine in myself so its not real difficult. Its not required for NJ compliance but it makes the trigger pull so much nicer.

fantastic! just have to find a place with them in stock. thanks for the help bullzeye

Your Welcome. I got mine from Grabagun.com in Texas. They have no additional charge for using a credit card and shipping is only $5.99. There price was also the best I could find when I was shopping for my 17S.  I looked and they are out of stock on the 16s but you can get on their email list and they will notify you once its in stock again. At checkout they will ask you what FFL dealer you want to ship it to and you will find Tier One Defense already in their system of dealers. Super easy!

I went with the 17s. Like JackDaWack said there are so many options in 5.56 but for 308 its probably one of the best battle rifles you can buy.

I bought mine from texas tactical on GB. $2700 shipped. Bullseye Tactical in Woodbridge did the transfer and compliance work.

Pinned the stock - No more fold or adustment

Pinned and welded the muzzle brake

blocked and pinned 4 mags

Between transfer and work it was another $200

The fsc 556 that comes on it is good to go in nj so it just needs to be pin/welded and the stock needs to be fixed like others said.

As mentioned the super scar trigger is a must have upgrade, and an extended rail is the next most popular upgrade. I did the same mods to my 16 and 17.

Just make sure whoever does you stock compliance work doesn't blast 20 roll pins into it. There are a few dealers who replace the telescoping and collapsing parts with bar and flat stock so it can be put back together if you sell it or move out of state. It's a lot more expensive than blasting roll pins the plastic.

Yesterday I visited a local store that has been around for a long time, They had nothing in stock. needless to say I asked about getting a TROY other and the owner was very uptight about it. he said I'll never sell one due to the fact that there is a federal law in the works to stop the sale and any prior sales will be confiscated! I was not happy to hear this but this store has a very bad rep. So a little help here, I looked and saw nothing about this subject on line.
