revenger 473 Posted April 23, 2016 I know I read a thread on this a while back but cant find it, Is it legal to laminate your card and where is a good place to have it done. I have the kit from staples but they are not very heavy duty. thanks
mikeyjones 88 Posted April 23, 2016 Yes. My first one was done by the gun store when I bought my first pistol. Staples in store will do it for a dollar. Sent from my Z812 using Tapatalk
fishnut 2,358 Posted April 23, 2016 I had staples do mine also. Never had a problem
Vicious 138 Posted April 23, 2016 My gun shop laminated mine, but my police dept. is very cool. IIRC my friend lived in Bayonne and his PD advised his PD told him not to laminate his FID. I think he did it anyway though.
Michael2013 56 Posted April 23, 2016 The police detective from whom I got the card advised to laminate it. I've done it in Staples.

dbldune 8 Posted April 23, 2016 Did it myself because I had to fold it in order to carry in wallet.
Old Glock guy 1,127 Posted April 23, 2016 Did it myself because I had to fold it in order to carry in wallet. Good point. For some dumb reason, it's just a little too big to fit properly in a wallet. And yes, Staples.
louu 399 Posted April 23, 2016 I trimmed mine a little around the edges so after it got laminated it is the same size as a DL. Staples laminated it.
ogfarmer 138 Posted April 23, 2016 My pd did mine
Lambo2936 297 Posted April 23, 2016 Yeah, i think it depends from PD to PD. Mine told me to walk across the street and do it immediately because replacing them is a PITA if the original isn't at least somewhat intact. Did mine at FedEx, cost under 2$. I Suggest you do as that guy above said and trim the card a bit (WITHOUT CUTTING ANY INFO) so that it actually fits. I didn't know any better and now mine doesn't fit in my wallet properly. I Put it in the bill area and it's slightly jacked up where it got bent to hell from me opening and closing the wallet.
PD2K 115 Posted April 23, 2016 My local PD encouraged me to do it and recommended Staples.
Khamil10 5 Posted April 24, 2016 Mine was laminated by the detective himself.

siderman 1,137 Posted April 24, 2016 Good point. For some dumb reason, it's just a little too big to fit properly in a wallet. And yes, Staples. They did it on purpose, just another way to annoy us.
beachwhistle 28 Posted April 24, 2016 I used 3" case sealing tape.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted April 24, 2016 Staples - luggage Tag laminate was just the right size. trimmed it down so it would fit in my wallet

deerpark 83 Posted May 5, 2016 Mine is laminated, never had a problem. I think I had it done at a Kinkos or a Mail Boxes etc type place.
Rob0115 1,105 Posted May 5, 2016 If you don't use at least 3 mil laminating sheets you can do 4 years for non-standard plastic.
Ricky_Bobby 130 Posted May 5, 2016 Staples here heavy duty and paid $

AVB-AMG 530 Posted May 7, 2016 I just bought the clear adhesive plastic laminate sheets from Staples and did it myself and trimmed it to the size I wanted so it fits in my wallet. It makes practical sense for durability and is not rocket science.....
JeepDrum 1 Posted May 7, 2016 Yeah my PD recommended laminating mine. A guy at work did it for me. We have a laminating machine fortunately. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
mipafox 438 Posted May 7, 2016 Mine is laminated, although no longer valid with the new laws/regs. This was a long time ago, but I think the cops told me to laminate it. I believe I bought something out of a vending machine that put two sticky pieces of plastic together over it.

njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted May 7, 2016 Actually, today's lamination dispensers are usually wall-mounted next to the tampon dispensers
concrete_boots 19 Posted May 9, 2016 Did mine at staples yesterday for $1. The lady behind the counter was a total Hillary supporter and looked at me like she wanted to charge me $
