Hole size for press fit 9mm brass?

Recommended Posts

Off the wall question - I'm thinking of "ornamenting" a motorcycle plastic part with some fired 9mm brass.

Anyone happen to know what drill size would make a hole in plastic of the right size so I could "press fit" the brass in the hole, leaving the end of the case/primer visible?

Ideally the hole would hold the case tight enough that it wouldn't fall out, but not so tight that I'd risk breaking the plastic trying to press the case in.

3/8 bit would get you to .375. That might work if you ream the hole out a little extra with the bit. Not sure how thick or elastic the plastic is but the 9mm has the extractor groove and lip that can make the casings apear loose.

Thanks - my plan was to leave the extract groove portion above the surface of the plastic, not flush with it.
