Amerigeddon - New movie in some theaters starting tomorrow..

Strong support for 2nd amendment and right to bear arms.

Saw an interview from the director..

About a massive EMP  terrorist attack taking out the power grid, internet, phones, banking

Civil war erupts are marshal law declared and gun confiscation takes place....

Sounds like a great movie for every NRA supporter to watch in your theater.

See the movie trailer on youtube

My son gave me that last Xmas, damn near read it in one session. GREAT  read for a fiction novel, really seemed to hit the "real feel". Supposed to be a sequel out too, hoping to get it for Fathers day.

Same with Lights Out -- I've read it twice

That the Ted Koppel one? Read that one, too, wifey got it along with the one my son got me. Dry, had to plough my way thru it, but scared the pants off me how poorly the gov't has planned for the likely happening of such a scary thing.  And we can accept this, I think, as NOT fictional. All of a sudden, the loony tunes on "Doomsday Preppers" don't look quite so wacko as once they seemed. I know the producers must have gone out of their way t find the ones most on the fringes, but still,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

It reality was amazing! Especially when you know every area and bridge they are talking of!

People have NO IDEA how much of the population would DIE with a few weeks of NO POWER. Most big cities would literally die off with in weeks. Just think 8 million people in NY city with not only no food and water but the sewage would be in the streets within days.

Until I read that book I was naive enough to think I could survive with ALL my food and access to water and game. All game would be gone in a few weeks right down to the squirrels and chipmunks. Including the farmers with cattle.

And I live in a very desolate area so I could imagine the big cities.

The author, Dr Forstchen recently gave a talk at a self reliance event.  The vids are interesting.

We ain't that far from NY, either. And,,,,,,,,,,type 2 diabetic here, you know I'm trying to stock up on insulin. Hated where he had that issue with the xxxxxxxx, won't go further due to  spoiler for those who haven't read it.

What the hell are you doing here in Jersey? You'd be safer back there, AND you'd have more, better firepower if need be.

I'm in Western NC mountains. I joined the forum because I do have just a few ties to NJ. Many are pro second amendment but have just given in.

We have plenty of that but it would have to be used to keep others away more than anything.  I thought I was so good with what I have but reality is no one will have enough unless you have a HUGE warehouse.

Me and another family are prepared together, but you know how much food you need just bare min. for 12 people when others are killing for it? It will not be pretty!

We thought barrels of rice beans and other food was enough, not. We do have spring heads all over though. LOL

Ahh, that explains it!! I was born and raised here, didn't know til too late how backwards this state was until I grew up. Still have family here, but most are older, so can't really leave till they pass on. Then I'm packin' up the chuckwagon an' headin' yer way!

I figure 5 years left here, and have been trying to be ready in case it happens while I'm still here but it's been tough due to lack of space and time. Onwards, tho.

Glad you have another family to share the load.

I also grew up IN NJ, Kept moving further away from the BS but it just follows ya. Unfortunately in NJ people are just used to compromising and dealing with things, I'm not.

Firearms are a big part of my life and I just couldn't do it in NJ any longer. I tried, I collected signatures, I went to meetings, I helped with elections.

BUT to many in NJ are just satisfied. There were three of us who used to reload, BS guns and shoot regularly, as things got worse one bought a cabin in NY state just to shoot, I moved here and one was a liberal and just took it.

Good luck with your future move.

My best bud lives in Pennsy, just over the river. I spend as much time there as I can, he has a range 15 minutes away. We BS, but we haven't gotten into reloading. From what  read on a few forums, it means a commitment of time and space, and initial outlay seems pricey. Then there's time to educate myself, obviously verrrrry important. I just am far from ready to take that on these days. Bucket list addition, but it has to come after I learn welding.

Thanks for the wishes, maybe you can send me a horseshoe?

That the Ted Koppel one? ,,,,,

No it was unpublished for a long time, written by a guy over on ar15.com -- his name was halfast on the forum -- Dave ...

There used to be a fiction forum, a place for storytelling - hobby writers if you will

He wrote this book, lights out, hooked thousands of us waiting for the next chapter

It did get published although I haven't read the published version -- heard he had to make a few changes to glorify some characters

Ever hear the term MZB -- mutant zombie bikers -- that's the story it came from

I do have a PDF copy of the entire unpublished story somewhere - don't generally read but this sucked me right in

Has anybody seen the movie? The story seems a little hard to pull off in an hour and a half, sounds more like a TV series. I went to their website and they don;t show it playing in this area. Not sure if that means anything, I'm not going today anyway.

Well, based on your description,  now I'm gonna have to do a search for it! I guess Lights Out is used for more than just the one, duh, shoulda known better I guess.

I know it's usually not kosher to share someones' real name on these forums with their approval, is there anything you else you can share to assist me in the search? Or share the pdf?

Both available on Amazon.
OK I ordered them after stalling for a few minutes. LOL

From what I have read and common sense about 60% or more of us would be dead with in a few months.
With the meds I take I may be one of the first to check out. Especially when the pacemaker battery dies, well actually I figure it just may not work. Hummmm!

Given the current climate I think it's incredibly important to support gun rights advocacy and help spread the truth about 2A, guns in America, our civil rights and other relevant issues.

Anyway, the point of the post is to point to a Kickstarter campaign by accomplished director/writer Kris Koenig to finish up his movie Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire and to actually get it into theaters not just online. Normally I wouldn't push any Kickstarter projects on here, but I feel that such a movie would be huge right now for us and you'd be hard to get a better return in terms of advocacy for $10 (the lowest reward which include download of the movie).

As mention in this thread on changing MrsWombat's EMP to a single sided safety she has had some issues with HollowPoints on her 9mm EMP. As the this is no longer about the safety I've started a new thread.

Out of the 133 Hollow Points she tried to shoot at the weekend she had over 110 Failure to Feeds and/or Light Primer Strikes. This was after 724 rounds of FMJ over the last 8 or so months without issue.

We tried a variety of Hollow Points including:
Speer Gold Dot 9mm: 124gr +P Hollow Point Short Barrel (23611)
      Federal LE Tactical 9mm Luger: 124gr +P HST (P9HST3)
      Federal LE Tactical 9mm Luger: 124gr +P EFMJ (P9CSP1)
      Winchester Ranger Talon 9mm Luger: 124gr +P HP (RA9124TP)
      Black Hills 9mm: 115gr +P Tac-XP (D9N10)
      Corbon 9mm Luger: 125gr +P JHP (SD09125)
      Hornady Critical Duty 9mm Luger: 135gr +P FlexLock (90226)

I sent an email to Springfield Armory Warranty on Monday 3rd September evening (Labor Day), by 10:11am on the Tuesday I had a response from Springfield Armory seeking to clarify a couple of points and our contact details and by 10:27 I had received a FEDEX shipping label to return the EMP to Springfield Armory to investigate and resolve the issue.

I have to say I am very impressed. Compare to my Sig issue I have to give Springfield Armory an A+ for customer service response (so far) compared to the D- for Sig.

Will post an update once we receive the EMP back.

Mrs Wombat's EMP 9mm doesn't seem to like Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P so we've got a few different HPs to try during our next range visit. In case anyone is interested I've posted photos below. I'll provide an update once we next get back from the range.

      Left to right in 9mm
      Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P
      Corbon 125gr +P
      Hornady Critical Duty 135gr +P
      Winchester Ranger Talon 124gr +P
      Federal HST 124gr +P
      Black Hills 115gr+P
Speer Gold Dot .45 ACP for comparison

Just from looking at the rounds I'd say the Hornady Critical Duty seems the most tapered (i.e. likely to feed most like a FMJ) with the CorBon being the least tapered (i.e. least like a FMJ) and the remaining HPs seeming to be much the same (somewhere in between the other two). At least from a visual inspection.

I'm looking to switch the ambi-safety on MrsWombat's EMP to a single-sided safety.

I've never done this before and am new to 1911s. Does anyone have experience on changing 1911 style safeties and how difficult is it? I'd probably use an Ed Brown safety however have read that you need to spend about an hour filing away on the safety? I was thinking of trying it, however another option would be to find a gunsmith.

Otherwise any recommendations on a gun-smith within 45 minutes of the Secaucus, NJ area?

      thanks
